1.5 month old truck and had a mishap with a parking gate that came down on the roof.

It should turn out perfect. If it's not, tell them that it isn't up to your standards and they will fix it. My wife wrecked her corolla at the beginning of last year. I had it fixed by a Toyota dealership body shop. They painted the new bumper and hood. When I went to pick it up there were swirl marks all over the hood and I told them I wouldn't accept that. They told me their rookie paint guy was the one that painted and buffed it and I would have to wait another day for their experienced guy to fix it. I waited a day and went back and it was like new. Don't be worried. Toyota will make sure you are satisfied before you leave.

Repaints can sometimes be tougher/stronger/harder than oem. If I knew I was getting quality, I'd be totally content with a slightly mis-matched roof. My guess would be that color match will be near spot on, but texturally, you might see a little variation. (Orange peel vs no orange peel, reflectivity, etc).

Another thing is metal flake paint is very hard to blend. The roof you won't see but the pillar you will. However, even the factory mgm paint has variations in the metal flake, at least mine does, so you may not notice.

Any paint is hard to blend but metal flake us a little harder. If they are good you won't notice a thing. Wasn't trying to scare you Just giving you some info.

BTW, I would get the rock chip fixed, its so small they will probably air brush it and it will look like new.

BTW, do you notice any variations in the mgm paint when it's in the sun just right? I have them in mine so thought I'd ask.

Yea, so am I. I notice the different flow of the metal flake when the sun hits it just right but that's it. Hope it works out for you.

I don't like it either but didn't notice it for 3mo. Hasn't been much sun here for a long time. Just the white stuff.

Why don't you like the truck? Is it because of the paintwork.

Man, selling a re-painted truck after owning for a few months would be the worse case scenario loss.. I'd hold on to it for a few years if you can!

I apologize, but if those features were important to you, why did you buy the truck?

I find that the features you get with it is on par with the price. Go build yourself an F150 with everything you want, and you're talking 70-80 CDN.

Oh they will when the Ford Ranger and possibly new Dodge Dakota rolls out. If either of the 2 were in production 2 years ago I would be in one or the other.

If I myself were to get out of this Tacoma it would be for a Mazda CX-5. I will probably keep this for 2 more years then trade for a different color Tacoma. I move to much to be without a truck. Now if I win the lottery I'll be driving a Ford Raptor. LOADED!

It is possible you feel this way if you're coming from a car background. The Tacoma is really a jack of all trades for truck buyers. Meaning, it's a work truck for some, a dirt bike hauler for others, a commuter, etc..

A luxury vehicle it is not. You don't really buy a Tacoma because it is advanced and has all the latest tech goodies.

The engine power and transmission is subjective. I think they are fine. Does it accelerate like my 911?, no. But it can haul my 911 to the track just fine. See what i'm saying? Different tool for different jobs. As for exhaust sounding stupid, I can't really comment there.. Again, maybe you're coming from a car background and that's your bar for comparison? Don't know..

Yea, I have a Ranger that's mostly done in the garage, never got the money or time to put gears in yet. Put 500 miles on it in the last 10yrs...Lol...

I had a '91 with the manual transmission I sold because I could not stand the pain in my knees when I pushed the clutch in. (Tore my left knee up on a towboat back in '97) That was a sweet little pick-up.
