So just did all the preliminary paperwork this morning at the dealer to trade in my 17 Tacoma on a new 21 TRD Off-road super white with 6MT. Trade in value was too good to pass up on mine. Drove it for 4 1/2 years, 50k miles, and traded it in for $1500 less than I paid for it.

That’s a no brainer. Especially if you got sales tax credit for the trade in. Congrats!

We're hearing of this story over and over again, 3 folks on my block all driving 2017-2019 Tacoma's have been contacted
by their dealer offering them incredible prices for their trucks - I wonder.... do they know something we don't know ?....

Sure the market is tight but is something deeper lurking in Dealer-Land ?

Are aliens about to land and only want Tacoma's ?...?
Is that Chinese Rocket going to crash into Earth and emit some unknown 'thing' that renders all auto's useless except Tacoma's ?..?

Inquiring minds want to know !!

I wanted either cement or army green but they are super popular colors here so the dealers are marking them up 3-6k over msrp cause they can. My trade in 17 is super white and I like it so white again wasn’t a huge bummer. Plus I get to ‘upgrade’ to 6MT

The lack of chips has made new car production really low right no, so similar market as a lot of the housing market. The dealer I went to only had 1 Tacoma on the lot, 0 tundras, and either low or no stock of everything but what seemed to be new venzas. The Tacoma they had was a lunar pro msrp 49k, marked up to 56k with the ‘market adjustment’

Kind of tempted to sell the Tacoma while prices are crazy and just ride my moto before buying a new Tacoma or Tundra when things calm down a bit.

Yeah I thought about that as I work night shift and my wife works part time from home, probably could have ran with her highlander for awhile as the only vehicle. One main reason I didn’t is the tax savings on the trade in were almost 3k…would probably have to wait quite awhile to negotiate 3k off of a Tacoma the way things are looking

they try the same with the Pro. I tell them to pound sand and they take it off. Especially if you’re having it built. I would call Toyota and dime them out.

Wonder why Army green is considered popular, though. They can’t burn them fast enough. tons of AG Tacos, 4Runners, and Sequoias sitting on lots everywhere.

In a lot of cases, the ones sitting on the lots are already sold or spoken for.

It’s a seller’s market here, too. I just bought a 2019 Access Cab after shopping for two months. I saw many used 2018-19 Tacomas that were listed for a price that was close to what they sold for when new. I found the 2019 at VW dealership that was significantly discounted from its original price. I am unsure if the discount was because it sat there unsold for a few months, the time of month, or the color. I really like the Calvary Blue color but some do not.
