So installed some new uca's last week. about 2 miles into the test drive I started to hear and feel a popping noise coming from the passengers side. Went back home regreased it and retorqued it. Seemed to fix the popping, after a few miles it started to make a loud creaking noise. Finally had a chance to get under the truck today and found that there is play in the ball joint. IV attached a link to the video.

Any ideas what may have caused this?

Ya IV already reached out to dirt king when i heard the first popping sounds. They were very helpful and concerned about what I was describing. This week was crazy busy for me so I finally had time today to get under the truck to take pictures and a video to send to them. Idk what could cause this? It must've been bad out of the box right? It didn't have play when I first installed it

So just in case anyone is curious I spoke with Greg over at dirt king this morning. He said they manufacture the cup of the control arm around the size of the Moog joint because they are the biggest and best. So he's guessing Moog sent them a ball joint that was slightly out of spec causing it to break free. He said he's never seen this before and was super apologetic because he knows the install can be a bitch. He's sending me a brand new set of arms today so all should be good soon.

damn that's pretty sketch but at least you quickly caught it. +1 for customer service and addressing a safety concern quickly. Hopefully this is the last we hear of this issue.

That's really great customer service. Places like The Retrofit Source could learn a thing or 2.

Ya I'm really happy with their customer service, the ball joints are the only thing they don't manufacture in house so I totally get how this could happen. They are super easy to deal with and happy to answer questions.

just a final update in case anyone searching the forum is considering these upper control arms.

the guys over at dirt king sent me a brand new set of control arms really fast for free and with no grief. I swapped them out a couple weeks ago, between all the holiday travel probably put 300 miles on them. Iv had no issues and im really happy with them. With a 2 inch lift my castor numbers are 2.6 and 2.3, camber is 0 and toe is 0.

Good customer service. I thought it was odd that Moog would have an out of spec balljoint.
