I have found a good deal on some 2015 4runner rims that come with new sensors. Supposedly taken off @ 500 miles. These are the wheels:

My question is: Can the sensors simply be reprogrammed for my tacoma or do I need tacoma specific sensors?

2009 dcsb off road as it currently sits:

    Thanks for any responses.

Wondering the same thing about the TPMS. I found some wheels and tires off a 2018 (same size as my current OEM setup) and the TPMS are included. So, back to the OP question, will they work?

Have a 2015 that I put a set of 2018 OR wheels and tires on. Didn't swap sensors because tires were already mounted. Stealership wanted $105 to break down the tires and read the sensor Id's. Was told that was the only way to get them. Took truck to tire store, they read the Id's and attempted to program to the truck. I say attempted because they never got the light to go off. It flashes for couple seconds then is solid. When codes were checked it showed C2126. Anyone know what might be the problem?

Also after spending roughly 45 minutes working on it I was not charged anything. Said it was a free service and apologized for not getting the light to go out.

3rd gen Taco sensors are not compatible with 2nd gen Tacos.

So, use my existing sensors from my 07 if I get the wheels and sensors from the 2018?

Yes and no. If you have the 2007 sensors swapped over, it will work, but... unless you know that your sensors were replaced recently, your sensors may be running on borrowed time. May be wise to just buy new ones and have them programmed.

Sounds like me. Living on borrowed time.

But that is a very good idea!

Would the light go off if I used plain rubber valve stems?

Heres the pipe you've been waiting for!:hattip:

Yes it will work, but....there's always a but....
Confirm the sensor part numbers work with your particular model year.
If not buy some on ebay or at RockAuto....they're only 40ish bucks each brand new!

The sensors need to be 8 to 10 years or less ( because internal batteries die eventually).

You need to read the individual sensor numbers broadcast number (written on the sensors themselves).
    Write them down (part1)...

Part 2),...The vehicle now needs to be taught (via TechStream software ) how to recieve the broadcast code...
Sounds more complicated than my writing!
    In other words,...

First get yourself a " registered copy" from Toyota...this is the PC software,.. https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=38078
I doubt this is legal , but definitly moral:rofl:
Then get a wire harness (PC interface to the OBDII plug)....on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VCI-1...epid=3003013957&hash=item2aa76a75f6:rk:1:pf:0

Software installed,...wire between laptop and OBD plug,....connect....and program.

    You cant mess anything up...:bananadance:

the correct answer is no... no tpms sensor will keep light on all the time.. My winter tires and rims have no sensors. didnt want to pay $200 for sensors and them have to have dealer reprogram at twice a year. so I live with the light over the winter.
