Anyone see the youtube video? I've heard rumors of a 1200cc APEX motor going into it with a pricetag of $16,000. Thoughts?

Yeah, I know, but this thing is 26K OTD without a single upgrade. I was just playing around on their site and by the time it's optioned out nicely it hits nearly 35K here... without the trailer. These things keep getting pricier and pricier though I can see the appeal of a dedicated OHV with these capabilities right out of the box.

Nice choice on the transmission. It'd be a bit of a PITA though on a trail I'd think.

Someone will turbo one of these shortly. I mean, throw a 1000 CC turbo kit from a Yamaha snowmobile, tune it with a Yamaha tuner, and you'd be done...

A couple of friends of mine have RAZR's. One also has a built Can Am something or other. All of them snap shit constantly with all the power upgrades. These things live on the edge of what the parts can do stock. Maybe Yamaha has built this one a little tougher so it can be pushed harder.

Within a few weeks it seamed like there was already turbos out for them, so people have already done that. I have read that people having problems with the clutch rock crawling but people are working on fixing that.(probably new clutch or gears.)

but yes with the power these sport SXS’s are pushing now 120+ and even like 140+ belts are not holding up. I think it’s more than just HP casing it. snowmobiles are 200 and i think even 300+HP and they all use belts and don’t have the problems. I think it has to do with weight and running 30”+ tires putting to much stress on the belts.

All of my small engine turbo experience is with snowmobiles. 250 HP out of a snowmobile is common now. It's not even difficult to get that with race gas. The transmission is still an issue on those machines though lol. It's more wear related than outright failure though so it's not a big deal. I just got back from a business trips where two guys were making fun of another guy for not turbo'ing his sled yet. Apparently you aren't a real man until you have over 200 HP out in the powder lol.

I have read where guys with RZR’s but new belt on or tires or something start it for the 1st time after to test it and belt breaks within minutes even driving around a yard and not going hard. read where a guy broke a belt loading it on a damn trailer.

I know belts on sleds wear out and most have a place to carry an extra but i think they just snap and shit even when new. I have family in close to buffalo NY and have road sleds more than a few times. have done like 100+ in a snow covered corn field talk about a rush lol.

Yes, price is crazy. I don’t see how this is even over $15k MSRP, any SXS. Anyway, I got it for $17600 plus my 8.25% Texas taxes and about $130 of title/doc fees. Thats it, no other BS fees.
Yes, you can fit a turbo on these because its an engine from their snowmobile side that has big aftermarket.
Yes, its a lot of fun...but I’m still breaking in the engine.
Yes, I like shifting if not I wouldn’t of bought a SXS. I don’t plan on driving slow trails. I only buy Japanese, the others I gave no consideration.
Yes, my friend bought a new RZR. He also bought a new belt while he was there to have as back up. Seriously, LOL.

(YES, I DONT KNOW HOW TO USE MULTI-QUOTE.)

Nice. I don't knock you for buying it. My comment about gears was simply off the cuff. It would be something in my area that would not be ideal but on open terrain like desert I bet it would be extremely fun. It's your toy. I might be just a little jealous as well :anonymous:

I figured the turbo would strap right on. I know you can strap on turbos from most sleds right on to ATV's and side by sides that share the same engine.

Yup. Actually Skidoo makes a little holder for an extra belt that goes right under the cover lol. They are a wear item.

Ahhh, its cool I understand about the gear. As a matter of fact I keep it 400 miles away at families home in Oklahoma. Nicer to drive there in the backroads, thats why I got it. Not looking to rock crawl or play in mud.

Mehh, don’t be jealous. It was hard to buy this toy, talk about a depreciating assest. Its purely something for me, last any big ticket item I bought was my Tacoma 8+ years ago. Also, my Tacoma just hit 200k miles. Not worried the least bit, you might think why would you buy this instead of upgrading your day to day vehicle. I trust my Tacoma.
