This is true. The 87 cupholders we already have are just totally unacceptable and, as a matter of fact, I will turn in my Tacoma on Monday and be done with it.

yes I'm joking....I have 13 in mine. Although I have had most of them full before. Once they are all full it is time to clean the truck!

    Here is my list:
    Bigger V6
BFG All Terrains (31") or similar on off road models
    Better suspension
    Standard Navigation/rearview camera
    Better and bigger armrests!
Align the driver seat with the steering wheel for Gods sake!
    Strengthen tailgate
    Better fuel economy

    Im getting there......

Are you proposing that the offroad and sport models would be the same except for the hood scoop. If you wanted a diffrential lock you should have gotten the offroad. Hence the term sport not...offroad! And by the way as far as chrome goes im pretty happy that my truck cant chip everywhere and that my rear bumpers actually made of metal!

I searched for two months to find that kind of truck...It's like the unicorn and bigfoot, it doesn't exist. Anyone who has one ain't getting rid of it. I gave up and bought a new one before I had to re-stud the heads and delete the EGR valve on the 6.0L PSD in my F250. On a side note, those who want a diesel, be prepared to pony-up some bucks on repairs. I've had the PSD and Duramax. I've got plenty of friends with the Cummins. Unless you are really hauling, and I mean HAULING, the diesel just doesn't pay. The Cummins is by far the best engine, but still numerous, costly repairs. Not to mention the routine maintenance. Fuel filters once a month, coolant filters, 16 quarts of synthetic oil every 3,000 miles.

add low gear(granny) to the manual transmissions. And if you post "just put it in 4 lo" then go drive a truck with low gear in 4 low and grin from the epiphany.

bring the pivots for the control arms in 1" per side/ get more available travel.

-I definitely like the 2010 4Runner interior. Not sold on the front styling but I think that it looks better then the current Tacoma. I would love a truck with the old FJ-80 front end.
-the new 4Runner engine would be nice.
    -shrink the size back 10-15%
    -Full boxed frame
-Coil sprung solid front axle (suspension doesn't have to be fancy, I am just going to tear it out and "upgrade" it anyway)
-Manual tranny w/ no electro crap and a manually controlled t-case
-rear disk brakes and fix the spongy brakes all round.
-ability to upgrade components without needing to get an entire trim package. (I would like heated leather seats, lockers, and a sunroof without forking out for a stereo, suspension, power inverter, expensive and still ugly rims, etc.
-Color matched components on the base models
-I really miss the built-in-Japan fit and finish quality
-reduced use of hard plastic for interior. I miss the quality of the old soft vinyl

There is about $5000 worth of other garbage, that serves no function other then to make uneducated drivers even more overconfident, that I would like to see gone but unfortunately it is government mandated for my "safety" so it isn't going to happen anyway.

I see a lot of what I want on here on other postings, but I'll post it again anyways.

1.) Boxed frame (aluminum frame would be great but that's not going to happen)
2.) Front Diff lock (offroad/4X4 models)
3.) Thicker stock skid plates, metal skid plate for gas tank (offroad/4x4 models), skid plate option for front/back Diffs (offroad/4x4 models).
4.) V8-but we all know that wont happen! But I understand, but I would like a V6 with more HP (not that our current V6 is weak or anything), maybe in the 270-280 range?
5.) A area where we can fit a large CB radio into the dash, under the stock AM/FM radio (offroad/4x4 models)
    6.) Bigger door handles!
    7.) Rear disc brakes!
8.) Lockable storage department in the center console
9.) Built in garage door opener buttons!
10.) Built in bed lights, something bright to light up the bed at night.
11.) Better tie down cleats, I know they can hold a lot, but I would like it if they where aluminum and hold a hook better.
    12.) Spray in bed liner.
    13.) Better clear coat.
14.) That's all I can think of now, I know there is something I'm missing.

Agreed. I did find one, called to confirm it was on lot, got there 45 mins later and it was gone. Same day it was listed. Found some nice 2.7 4WD access cabs but wanted a little more power.

Also agreed that the 6.0 fords are money pits. My dad's work runs them as fleet trucks to tow goosenecks with equipment. They spend more time in the shop than on the road and are costing the company money. When they work, though, they are pulling fools.

Which is why I said an old school diesel, not the modern emissions-crippled units. I think, mileage wise, it does pay. Light duty use they seem to hold up very well. My parents own a Jetta TDI that gets 50+ mpg highway and has been trouble free for 40K and a Duramax 3500 based provan camper that has been great for 60k now. Used to a Ford 7.3 that was trouble free for 100k when it was traded. They towed a 22 foot airstream and 26 foot sailboat with it all over the country.

Agreed, but there's the problem. They will be emissions-crippled, unless you sink thousands into deletes and bypass eveything. Older diesels were awesome. 600K-800K miles with virtually no repairs. Those days are gone, however.
