It's not so much that it's a V6 as it's a 60 degree V6. That gives more even exhaust pulses....netting a more droning type sound. If it were a 90 degree V it would have a fighting chance to sound deeper and more throaty, do to the 90 degree V's uneven exhaust pulses.

But Toyota went for the 60 degree configuration for packing and the fact that 60 degree V6's are inherently better balanced than 90 degree V6's

I like a simple rumble in an exhaust. Always have. Me asking for other's opinion to what they think is "nice", gives me options to look into.

Why buy a white truck instead of silver? Why black rims vs. bronze? It's all personal aesthetic preference. No need to shit on a question because it doesn't coincide with your opinion. Stay salty.

Who said it has to cost hundreds? All you really need to change is the muffler. On my previous truck I bought a $30 muffler from summit racing and paid a shop $70 to weld it in. I was so damn happy with it.

OK, fine. If you are happy, that's great. I have no problem with that.

I was just saying that, in my opinion, spending money to make your truck sound different is a waste. That's all.

I got a Flowmaster 50 series muffler 6 months back and love it. Not too aggressive but definitely gives it a nicer deeper tone and some growl when you step on it. I'd highly recommend it

a V6 will never sound as good as a V8.... that being said I have a Magnaflow and it sounds its best around 1200-1800 RPM.....comes with a resonator and a muffler... probably the only performance gain is the weight savings over the stock exhaust....lol....

Are you referring to my post about the 60 degree configuration of the 1GR?

The sound produced by an aftermarket exhaust on this type if engine is certainty subjective. Aside from that, what I said in my post was fact....not opinion.

Can't come to a forum asking opinions, then get pissy if someone says something you don't like.

18 inch magnaflow. actually sounds better than I was expecting. ive heard some black widows and they sound pretty mean too. flowmaster super 10 is a good choice if you want to drone out your passenger.

Plain Jane Taco, my post had nothing to do with yours. Your post is what info I am looking for. It was Salty Dog's comments.

I agree. I went from stock to a magnaflow catback, to TRD, to Dynomax Ultraflo, and finally back to stop. They all sounded like poo except for stock

TRD, you dont really hear it till you put your foot into it, and even then its a decent note, nothing too raspy.

I had a TRD for about 6 months. Had a decent tone at idle and high rpm. But everything else in between...where you spend the majority of the time...was just loud and droney. My daily commute became tiresome.

Again....it's a tough battle to silence that mid-rpm drone with this engine configuration.

It was a blessing to go back to stock

Thanks all. I'm going to keep it stock. Next quest is upgrading those wheels and tires...

Best idea, I've never had any engine other than a V8 sound good. They are all varying degrees of bad to tolerable. Use your money for something that produces better results. I learned the hard way. Luckily mufflers/pipe were cheap then.

Y'all sure you have TRD exhausts? I have the PRO which came with it stock and its so subtle.
