It's a documented issue. I just sent my left joycon in for a warranty replacement due to this same thing.

There's so many requests they set up a distinct page for it:

Those handheld switch things look like fun... how do you get the games? Do you buy something you insert into it or is it where you download someting from a computer? Also. how much do the game cost?

You can purchase game cartridges, which are about an inch long and there's a slot for them on the Switch. Or you can purchase games digital-only and download them; the Switch has wifi built in. Practical differences include sometimes you can find more deals on cartridges than the digital downloads, since you have to buy the downloads from the Nintendo Online store only. But it's much nicer to not have to get up and switch cartridges. If you do go with a lot of downloads, you'll probably have to spring for a microSD card to stick in the Switch to hold all your downloads.

Games vary a lot, since there are way more little indie titles out now. Flagship games are routinely $50, prices tend to drop over time. Little indie games can be as little as $5 or $10.

My mom bought my daughter a switch 2 years ago for Christmas. We loved playing Mario Kart together. Then someone broke in to my 4runner and stole it. Mom got her ANOTHER SWITCH this Christmas. I got her Super Mario Bros and we've been killin' it. Shes becoming quite the gamer now. She's on her way to california for vacation and one of her cousins is a huge gamer. They should have fun together lol.

I'm old school at heart and go out of my way to find cartridge games rather than digital downloads.

Squirt a little contact cleaner around and into the joy stick area. Just don't over do it, and be sure to let it thoroughly dry before using them.

Just paid for the BotW Master Sword Trials DLC or whatever it's called. Damn I love that game. Still going through it but I hadn't played since the end of 2018 and I still enjoy the game as much as day one.

I've been thinking about selling my Switch but also thinking I should pick up a new game while quarantined. Animal Crossing seems to be trending, anyone play it? Is it an online only? Was also thinking about the Assassins Creed Rebel Collection.

Ive been playing Animal Crossing. Only offline. You dont have to go online at all if you dont want. Its kind of been just one of those games where its a pick your own adventure. Do as much or little as you want. Theres next to no story. Just sort of design, collect, build as much/little as you want. Its fun for what it is. Its a nice game to just pick up and play and be able to walk away from without being in the middle of a fight or something

Being rocking BotW again. I've completed the Master Trials DLC and now and just lazily collecting all the Korok seeds. Trying to get to 100% completion.

I also heard there is a remaster of Skyward Sword coming to the Switch in July? Wonder if there's any truth to that.

Finally got to 100% on BotW and put the game back in the sleeve for the final time. Been playing Skyward Sword HD just for a bit so far. Its very hard to go from BotW back to a linear game like SSHD.

I don’t feel like the controls are as intuitive, either.

Definitely not. Basically have to run around holding L the entire time just to stay straight. And the joystick to swing your sword, gtfo.

I get re-releasing the game, I thought Link’s Awakening was awesome! The “quality of life” updates were just not up to the bar I feel they set. Mimicking the BOTW controls (minus the game specific haptics/controls) would seem more beneficial.

I literally bought this console for BOTW. I also like most Mario games, any other games you guys enjoy?
