    HA! Sounds like your adjuster nut or something inside the brake drum is rubbing on something it shouldn't be. Its literally exactly what Ants truck sounds like but only when he hits the brakes

    It's the bushing just below that u joint. Found the tsb and the zip tie fix....which I am not convinced is the best option

    Thanks man! I looked this up and saw the tsb too. Learned something new this morning, and I didn't even realize that this was an issue. That tsb looks pricey though, I'd try the zip tie first, pass on the welding, tsb when time and dollars allow. I wish they had sites this cool for all cars.

    The zip tie fix is a permant solution. The bushing that causes the rattle is literally just there to prevent the rattle. There are no moving parts and nothing is supported by it. Some people go the extra step of instead of just sticking a piece of a zip tie in there they wrap the tie right around into itself so it can't fall out

    Shit you're right. Well fuck me, thanks again Toyota. I tried to wrap the zip tie all the way around but I couldn't quite get it...we'll see if I'm satisfied after a test drive this weekend. Maybe I can remove that piece and press a new bushing in with tighter tolerance someday

    The steering column bushing tbs is up 2012s from what I understand... yet they did not use the revised part on 2013s
