    Jay - where's your writeup on this mod? I'm thinking of going amber instead of these dang superbright white lights. I think amber allows better definition in snow and glaring pavement. Thanks.

    Already did the mod last year. Zero beers.

    I really wanted to know more about the amber covers and I thought I could glean it from the mod write-up.

    Didn't know it wasn't your write-up.

    This sentence threw me off.
    I guess I need more ESL training.

    Hah no worries. I actually have a set of amber covers laying around. I took them off my ditch lights. You can try them out if we ever link up. Not sure I’ll sell tho, kinda mod hoarder.. :anonymous: Even though I have amber covers on fogs, light bar, and rear under cap pods, never know when the feeling comes to switch things up. I’ve actually looked into red lense covers for the rear. I believe it will deter bugs even better than the ambers

    just double check your local laws, adding blue and or red lights have a bunch of restrictions
    though by your post I assume you're only talking about using them while in camp... in that case I do believe no harm no foul.

    Xactly. Would only add red cover to the pods on the inside ceiling of my cap, they face outward as camp lights on the tailgate and swing out table. Otherwise concealed while driving. Overall a secondary thought to bug protection as I still get bugs lured to lights at camp, interior led strips are white and pods have amber covers. Feel like the white light led strips already bring the bugs in and when I only have the ambers on the bug are already hanging out..

    Blue yes, red no unless it's strobing. Unless you think your running lights or brake lights are illegal.

    I only ripped this off google, so not sure if anything has been changed since.

    NJAC:

    § 13:24-2.1 Red lights on vehicles

    (a) No vehicle equipped with a red light, when such light is visible from directly in front of the vehicle, may be used on any street or highway, with the following exceptions:

    1. An authorized emergency vehicle;

    2. An authorized school bus;

    3. A frozen dessert truck as defined in N.J.S.A. 39:4-128.3;

    4. An omnibus equipped in accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:3-54(b); or

    5. A vehicle authorized by a permit issued by the Chief Administrator.

    (b) A red light permit is not required for those vehicles set forth in (a)1 to 4 above.

    § 13:24-5.5 Use of blue emergency warning lights

    (a) A blue emergency warning light or lights authorized pursuant to this subchapter may be used under the following conditions:

    1. On a motor vehicle operatedby the identification card (permit) holder; and

    2. Only while the identification card (permit) holder is responding to a fire or emergency call.

    So if I am reading this correctly, with the proper permit in hand... an arb freezer and some ice cream presumably for sale would clear anyone wanting to use red forward facing lights :notsure:

    :cool:

    Also @Chux clearly stated he would use the red in the rear so... :boink:

    lol???
    I am confused, is the skid row illuminated or painted??
    I know out west for sure, but is an led bar without a solid or amber cover considered illegal even when not in use??

    my pessimistic views on life kinda fear the day they will add high clearance bumpers to the fail inspection list... am I alone here??

    Technically hi clearance rear bumpers are illegal. Your only allowed to have a certain percentage of the tire exposed. That’s why in years passed a lot of lifted trucks had rediculous half assed mud flaps. Also bumper height is an issue I believe it used to be 22 inches from the ground. That’s why a lot of 70’s-80’s tube bumpers had rediculous low hoops on them.

    As far as lights go in Jersey you can have two sets for forward facing lights (headlights and fog lights) and they can’t be any higher than a certain height. Then you can have an unlimited amount of forward facing amber lights and rear facing red lights. Think like a lit up Peterbuilt. A light bar or pods with amber leds or covers is a gray area that I’m sure would be a losing arguement if a cop pulled you over using them on the road.

    Illuminated. I'm breaking tons of laws I'm sure, but haven't been bothered yet.
