How does one properly do a hilift test on sliders?

Just jack it up and see if the sliders deflect at all. At the middle it should definitely be solid but at the ends it may bend.

But definitely do not use a hi lift like hunter!!! Always have the hi lift as verticle as possible


I will say at least he had the doors open so if it kicked it wouldn't damage the exterior of the doors

All a matter of opinion.

What I can tell you is you will never see me opening up my doors like some of the people here do. God forbid the jack was going over last thing I need is my door to be in my way and trap me or react from hitting the door and do something unexpected. Much safer leaving the door shut IMHO so you have nothing in the way. If you can't jack your truck up with your doors shut - you shouldn't be using the jack in the first place - it's that simple.

Still hit the interior of the doors & could hinder your escape.

Not sure who first thought to open the doors, but you ain't seeing any offroad expedition teachers like Bill B. telling you to do it in the videos I have watched.

Yeah... I'm all for keeping the doors closed too. Can't say I owe a hi lift, used one a few times but I've seen a lot of videos on them too... to me it just makes sense. If it buckles I feel like it's more likely to hit the door if the door is open.

Ever used a hi-lift as a winch? That scares me 10x more that jacking my truck up with one. Thing is twisting and turning every which way, you're directly in line with a stretch of cable/strap/chain in high tension as you're using all your strength to get that next click hoping you don't slip off the handle and have it smack you in the face. At least when you are jacking up a truck and shit goes bad you have a little time to react and you have an escape radius.

 

What? I've pulled several boat engines with a light duty come along. It works great. I also used it to pull my truck out of some deep rutts once.

I think He is saying that he will use it as a winch but haven't yet as a winch yet.... he think is like a come along so he thinks he would feel comfortable using as that....

I know is fun and easy picking in him... but c'on....lol

I wasn't picking on him, i was genuinely confused. As for my other post, i'm indicating that come alongs are really useful as a cherry picker with a proper A-framed gantry.
