I just bought an 05 TRD Sport with 132k miles, VG condition
the only issue is no action when pushing the cruise control button, no light in speedometer, nothing. The switch doesn't even look like it was used much, no wear signs
What would be the most likely causes of this issue?

The clock spring, AKA: Spiral cable is normally the issue.
Try turning the steering wheel to different spots and turning Cruise on.
Sometimes it will make contact and work. If so, it's the spiral cable.

Nope, I just spun the wheel all over left to right and nothing happened, no light came on. I've scanned it as well with no faults coming up. The place I bought it from thinks its the switch which they're replacing when it comes in.

The ECM controls the cruise. If a fuse were blown, you’d have other issues.

There are ways to test switch. But most guys don’t know how or want to take the time to do it. It “can be” time consuming.
Going to the ECM and probing the correct wires while looking at a meter can be intimidating to some. So parts start getting thrown at it.

I’ll post a brief “how it works” later.
But I’m not going to post the process.
It sounds like the parts cannon is being loaded. And if it’s not costing you anything. Fire away.

    Yes
IIRC, on my 2013, if the Check Engine Light is illuminated, cruise control won't work. Is your CEL on?
