VERY nice. I ordered one and am going to try to do it your way. The solder joints look much easier to get at. Will that fit thought the hole left by the blank? I don''t think you will need the nut on the button. I did not need mine I screwed it into the hole in the blank

When I tested it on my 09 it went through with no problem, i'm curious to see if I will not need to use the nut also. I will post pics of the finished product when I get my truck in two weeks

You won't be able to get the nut on the back of the blank as the blank has side walls, one of which has to be dremeled off to tie in the wires and use the Phillips head screw drive. Make sure you make the hole just small enough to be able to screw the switch into the plastic eliminating the need for the bolt.

I attached the wires then dropped the unit in and tapes it to the fuse back to make the battery accessible. I see your wires are thick enough to suspend the opener behind the switch.

I installed this. If you have a craftsman, chamberlain, or Liftmaster check out a MyQ controller. It connects to your network using wifi to the router. It then acts like another remote control in your vehicle. You can open/close/check on your door anywhere in the world on your phone/tablet/computer as long as you can get an Internet/cell service. Many doors have this built in now. I use it more often than I thought I would. Great for when friends drop you home or you are on a walk. About $100. It will run up to 3 doors in the same garage.

I have this on my main door. If the power is out and the network doesn't work I can get out and use the battery operated keypad. My opener's backup battery is good for at least 3 open and close cycles.

Nice work, thanks. I just have to figure out which I need, it's an OLD door, from the early 90's when the
house was built, can't really make out anything on the remote sticker other than Sears.

Push the button on the backside of your garage door opener it's self, and see which color it turns, red or green that should help you out, mine was also very very old

The mini remote I picked said it covered a vast number of codes and it said something about the green light so I rolled the dice for 12 bucks and it worked

Really? The color of the light huh, never heard of that but never thought one
way or the other about it. What gauge wire did you use to connect the 2?

I believe it was 18 or 20 gauge but I'll have to go look tonight, as TacoBella pointed out, you can see it is a stiffer wire I used on purpose. in regards to the lights yes, mine turns green when I push, and my wife's side turned red when I push it because it's a newer one. When you go on eBay to look at the remotes supple sites will mention this. That's how I learned about this. Now the wives telling me to buy a second one as a cheap back up.

Yeah, mine is right on the front, a little diode...... are you talking the remote or the
mechanism itself that opens the door as having the light?

The mechanism itself! When you push it, it either turns red or green for like 30 seconds. While it's lit, push the button on your remote control and they will learn each other. Hence them calling them learners . The lightbulb/s on the mechanism should flash telling you they have talked. If it does not flash they did not learn each other. After you're done and the light goes out, you should be able to push the button on the remote And open the garage as long as the lightbulbs lit up telling you they have talked

Sometimes, when you replace the battery in the remote they lose track of each other and you have to do this anyway. There is a bunch of YouTube videos on this........I will say, I'm not sure if this is a craftsman/Sears thing with the lights. Or if it's with any kind of garage opener , my experience is only with Sears/craftsman

The little green or red light is right next to the button your pushing on the back of the mechanism if I didn't state that already
