No honk with keyless entry lock/unlock

Just picked up a used 2nd gen and for some reason only my lights flash when locking or unlocking with the keyless entry remote. Any ideas on why it's not honking and how I can troubleshoot this?

I believe the honking is if you have an alarm system. Our trucks come with Keyless. entry which just unlocks the doors and flashes lights. 09+ i believe they make a beeping noise.

Mine makes the beep, I only have keyless entry. Special K has the alarm and his honks.

My sons 2006 PreRunner does not beep when using the keyless entry but my 2011 does the normal one beep to lock and two to unlock. His 06 will lock your ass out if your not careful. It will lock within 30 seconds by itself for some reason...

 

mine does that to. It's only when you unlock it and don't open any doors.

 

Yep that's when his does it. I argued with him that he was crazy but he proved me wrong...

 

Yeah it is a safety feature. That way if you accidentally unlock your truck with the remote it will lock itself back.

 

I think it was added in the 2009 model because my 2007 did not but my 2010 has a chirp/beep.
