I talked to a Honda regional sales manager and he said he could retire off what they make on sales from HOuston to New Orleans. We do big trail rides and we did one in the Atchafalaya Basin and there were 50 or so bikes and only 3 were not hondas.

I disagree. The Honda motor (04-05's) is far more reliable than the YFZ's and is almost as powerful except for the 06+ 450R's. They put out equal or slightly more power than the Yamaha but lost a little of the previous reliability of the previous motor when they're built. The 04-05 450R's are also much more reliable than the YFZ motors when highly modified. The Suspension/handling of the YFZ is a tad better stock for stock IMO, and I think that the YFZ is a tad more visually appealing than the Honda 450 too.
That said, I'm not planning on selling mine any time soon. But, unless Honda steps it up with an MX setup and EFI in the near future, the next 450 for me would be the YFZ450R SE.

IMO The 04-05 honda motors might not out drag race a YFZ but in terms of relibility they win hands down if you want to drag race get a banshee. I raced cross country in 05-06 on the same motor it was stock with a HRC cam and a K&N that was it. The YFZ run strong but in XC if it started raining and got muddy the YFZ's seemed to not like the mud and the track would be littered with them.:D
