ones ive used are hard ware store springs to keep the hood closed over a buck, factory latch can partially fail at highway speeds.
number two is ratchet strap and bungee cord each side of the bed to each other. helps stability around corners and launch, plus it makes a fairly comfy seat with the tailgate down.
number three i use is flex seal+rainx the inside seams of the windows that dont open or i just never use. -5 lbs in drag weight at 45 mph, +2 mpg average

how i did weight reduction, so far.
    empty toolbox to bare essentials.
remove head rests, rear cushions, plastic covers such as the fuse door and cig tray,
i also vacuum a lot and use weather tech as theyre the lightest interior saver i could find.
i dont carry anything i dont need

I’m old and drive slow as @#$&. I ride a motorcycle to haul ass. You’re not going to haul ass in a Tacoma. Even a Raptor is speed limited 100 mph. Maybe it’s 110 mph.......

Same here...if I want to go fast I ride the moto. The moto is also my daily driver so I get to go fast often.

My bike is slow as hell compared to most but still does 0-60 in 4 seconds and cost me $4k used. You can get em cheaper too.

    Just don’t go killing yourself.

Nice. I have a Suzuki vstrom 650. Kinda slow, doesn’t do anything well but does everything and it’s super easy to maintain. I average 1,000 miles per month so I needed something low maintanence.

There are low mainenance “less expensive bikes”. My vstrom pays for itself in fuel economy alone. Add in time saving due to lane splitting and filtering and it’s generating time as well as saving money.
It costs me less to own the bike than it would be to only drive my truck.

This is my newest project. 85 Suzuki Gamma 500. This is what currently keeps me out of the bars. It’s in the basement in a million pieces. I will have it together in a month.

Not to mention winter in Kansas is legit winter.

Sorry to hear about you getting rear ended too. Were you injured?
