    While I agree that law enforcement over all (all of them regardless of what level of gov't) should only impede your normal travel if you are suspected (reasonable suspicion of illegal activity) I also in the camp that they deserve our respect and I give them a wide birth when they are trying to do their job and become patient.

    I did a burnout in front of a cop one time while making a really aggressive U-turn; I was trying to pick up my friend who did not have a license yet so we could go to a movie; There was a major accident and they shut down the whole road instead of redirecting traffic around the accident. Cop gave me a dirty look but didn’t do anything...

    Time to cut your losses. Get a lawyer and force the dealership to buy the truck back.

    But make sure you give the truck back dirty inside and out so they have to work hard to get it ready for the lot!

    If we've learned anything from this and ALL the other threads about dealership woes I think its clear you should NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP for anything involving tire rotations and fluid changes. I've seen the group of clowns that do those things at my dealership and its scary. My one and only tire rotation cost them over $800 after they chowdered every lug hole on my brand new wheels. Good luck OP hope it all works out!

    Are you in the camp of doing it yourself or taking it to a "dedicated" lube shop? If the later then they have JUST as many issues as the dealership.

    Document everything. Follow up emails with calls and calls with emails. If you get no response to an email, forward the same one again and again. When you call, follow up with an email summing up what was said and with who.

    remember, it's in their best interest to keep you happy but everyone has a job there to "reduce and minimize cost". So with that said, they really aren't looking out for your best interest.

    @Brenda Wirick

    You're in a crappy situation, but let the dealership try to make it right before escalating.

    I would personally go in these steps:
    1. Decide what are absolute requirements for you to feel whole again and feel safe to drive the vehicle.
    2. Try to remove emotion with your interactions. (I know this would be my biggest issue in this situation.) Being polite, yet stern and resolute will get you results.
    3. Speak with the dealership owner directly. I would tell that person you do not feel safe in the vehicle any longer and say you want a new engine. If you opt to stop driving the vehicle and incur any costs for rental/ride share until that meeting, it should be documented. Those costs should be reimbursed.
    4. If you are denied anything you deem absolutely required in that meeting with the owner, file a corporate complaint and state everything that has taken place to-date while also stating you do not feel safe in the vehicle due to this incident. You will likely get a fast response from Toyota and then the dealership.
    5. If you start getting the run around from either Toyota or dealership, speak with a lawyer.
    Sure, you could go with a lifetime warranty on all engine components, but you could be rolling the dice with your time and stress down the road. You would need to make sure it is a Toyota warranty that would cover full tow costs and work done at any Toyota dealership. Do not accept a 3rd party or only their dealership warranty.

    You won't get a free new vehicle; that's just nuts. It's not like you have a 2020 and this happened at first service. They may try to give you a "deep" discount towards a new/replacement vehicle. That's your call if want to pursue this path. If you do, be sure you don't pay any fees/taxes/licensing. The dealership needs to eat those, plus their "deep" discount. Tell them you want to see their invoice on that vehicle, what they paid, and work from there. You could push for a 10 year extended warranty on them for that new/replacement vehicle, but that may be over reaching.

    Lastly, read and comprehend anything they hand you to sign. I'd not sign anything that would hinder any path to a lawsuit or force arbitration. If you do not understand anything they hand you, speak with a lawyer and express any concerns. Good luck.

    I have a dedicated shop I have been going to for 15 years that I take it to if I don't have the time to do it myself. I can also watch them do the job so I know it's being done correctly and I've never had an issue. Took it the clowns at Wilsonville Toyota for my first service and it will definitely be the last. Free is not always a good price.
