Hello everyone. I have a 2000 prerunner. I am getting no spark. Problem started with misfires in cylinders 1 and 4. So I changed the plugs, wires and coil pack. I went to drive it after to see if the problem cleared up. Truck started acting up again halfway home. Engine light came on and it killed. Had it towed home. Now it will not start and I get no spark. I tried to put my code reader on it but it won't connect to my ecu. Is my ecu fried maybe? Also changed the crankshaft position sensor.

Rebuilding seats with leather from furniture and extra padding. Might put leather on the dash and other interior parts.
Maybe test ignition module if it has one. Try resetting ecu?

How do you reset the ecu? Just unplug the battery for x amount of time?

Yes. Disconnect battery and turn on the light or something for a minute or so.

    Turn the key on.
When the key is on, do you see the check engine light?
If so, the ECM is not likely dead. Or at least all the way dead.

Come back and let us know if the light is on.

Yes the check engine light is on. I am gonna try to reset the ecu when I get home. I am at work ATM. Also the airbag light stays dimly on when the key is off and the battery is connected.

I'd check the OBD2 connector for Power and ground.

    Key On.
Check pin 16 to pin 5
And then check pin 16 to pin 4

You should show 12v each time.

Well, I know the SRS and OBD2 port share a common ground.
So all we can do without a meter is check that ground wire.
Let me see if I can find where it is located.

Check the ground wire where it bolts to the truck at EB.

You can also try pulling the 15A CIG fuse.
Maybe that will kill power to portion of the ABS module that is illuminating the light.
And maybe, just maybe, it will allow the ECM back online. (doubtful)
