No Tacomas On Lot

Evening All
Im in New England and in my area there are 3 Toyota dealers
On their websites they list 75 , 53, and 35 Tacomas in transit or build phase but no Tacomas on the lots
Just curious as to why no trucks on the lot

Most builds were on a 30+ day quality inspection hold for an unknown reason. That has apparently ended/been fixed and most built trucks are being shipped. New builds are also shipping but it looks like some bottle necks are happening along the way.

At least that's my understanding from what I have read online.

 

Find the allocation list and then find your dealers on the sold tab to see how many they have already sold.

 

Also the days of packed lots are likely done, an expense that Toyota doesn’t need to foot as they once did. But! If you are interested in a windchill pearl 6ft sport premium there’s one at handy Toyota in vt and a number of incoming ones landing at McGee Toyota in nh this week. There just from talking to sales reps this past week

 

Well isn’t there a port … say in Baltimore that gets all your cars … so there may be a little

Don’t buy them all guys, leave some for the rest of us……

 

Because nobody actually wants them right now, overpriced Mexican made trucks at this point.

Are you suggesting these trucks would be put on cargo ships from Mexico to the US instead of just simply crossing the huge land border via rail or truck freight?

 

No, I am just noticing the name Toyota and Disruption in the same sentence of the Car and Driver story.

 

No suggesting needed both Baltimore and Newark ports are used for Tacomas.

 

I just look forward to the dealers in our region claiming the port disruption on the right coast has interrupted the supply here....

 

I forget where I saw this but these are Toyota ports I saw a few years ago. Ports are basically distribution location regions and the states they serve.

It possibly could if mid Atlantic trucks get stuck at the factory or something because they can't get moved out via boat. But let's hope not

 

The perception of scarcity alone can stimulate demand, and it helps that Gen4 is very good. Toyota sales managers from Toronto to Flagstaff will use the word “Baltimore”, if it helps them sell a $1000 paint sealant or dump on someone’s trade.

Problem for Toyota is that they’re already locked into two full factories producing 250-300k overpriced trucks regardless. And time is absolutely not on their side.

 

Speaking only from my personal experience, the '24 Tacoma I have a deposit on will not be affected by the Baltimore bridge collapse. Port of entry for the truck is San Diego (I'm assuming departing the Baja factory). Dealer said from there it heads North East via rails, before being loaded onto a truck and delivered to individual dealerships. Again, just what I'm being told by my dealer. I gotta say though, loading Tacomas into containers, stacking them onto cargo ships in the Pacific, and sailing from Mexico down to Panama and then back up the East coast to Baltimore (or stacking cans onto ships in the Gulf of Mexico and sailing North from there) seems like a really stupid way to distribute vehicles to the North East.

 

I'd think they would go on these in lieu of containers.

 

Ah, yeah. That seems more reasonable. lol. Using a boat like that to get from Mexico to USA does not.

 

Why not ? Mexico has ocean on one side and gulf on the other. Seems like a reasonable transit route
