Be glad you don't live in Singapore. 100% import tax and it's something like 50k to be able to drive it as well (it's like a car driving privilege fee and it expires). Imagine driving a tacoma there an it cost you over 100k...

Spot on. Exactly what happened. Then a couple days later when I realized it didn't have a hitch on the back, I just figured the tow package was all the additional cooling components (which I wouldn't know what they looked like) but no receiver, which is exactly what the tow package was like for my Dad's Highlander. Yes, I feel like a shmuck for not verifying, but I was 17 the last time I purchased a truck. I didn't exactly have a sharp eye for all the options I was expecting I guess.

I purchased this through the Costco Auto Program, and the dealership fears Costco. They told me Costco goes in once a week, bends them over and reams them for every little thing they didn't do perfectly. So, my only hope is when I complain to Costco that they will throw their weight around and pressure the dealer to make me whole or close to it in some way or another. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for all the replies!

Would adding aftermarket ATF Cooler, Engine Oil Cooler, Power Steering
Cooler, and beefed up Alternator void any warranties?

That's a tricky question. Short answer is it shouldn't since the according to the MM warranty act the dealer has to prove that something added aftermarket directly caused a failure of the component being warrantied. IE you install a transmission cooler and don't top off the fluids resulting in a burnt up tranny the dealer may decide to void the warranty on your transmission.

Just curious for the OP do non tow package vehicles have ports for the cooler lines or are extra parts needed? Here is the bottom of my transmission. You can see the thermostat and cooler lines.20170308_163744.jpg

I had to order the Tow Pkg extra on my otherwise stock OR. For $650 it's a no brainer.

How can you spend $30-40k on something and not do any research?

If you spend 10 minutes on Toyota's website you see it is an option for $650. You look at a window sticker on the lot you see it listed.

I realized very quickly that sales people are not as well versed as someone who spends 20 minutes with the brochure. The behavior is rewarded when they fuck up and you still sign for the vehicle.

As for why would you get a 4x4 without a hitch? It messes with your departure angle. If you are more focused on off roading then a 4x4 without is better. With that said, I ordered mine with the tow package and it and it has saved my inexperienced ass from major bumper damage.

I have an update if anyone is interested. After 2 months and 2,200 miles, the dealership agreed to take the truck back free and clear, unwind the deal, and got me an identical truck that had a tow package. :bananadance: I was shocked, and even though I can't confirm it, I suspect it's because I went through the Costco Auto Buying Program, and Costco needs to be kept happy! But kudos to the dealership for making it right for me.

I had to order the option with my truck... Well worth it for what you get. Tranny cooler, engine cooler, larger alternator, tow hitch, ml and wiring for like 600 on the 16s. I got that and front clear bra protection and that's it

where I live the trucks come from southeast toyota with tow pkg... all of them! apparently as i was told the add that to every truck here. If you do get the trans cooler added make sure they add fluid to fill the expanded capacity provided by the trans cooler.
