Never been a huge fan of chrome, and I feel like it looks a little tacky on the grill. I went to home depot and got a 6 dollar can of flat black automotive body paint and some 250 grit sandpaper. The sandpaper really helped clean up the Knicks and gunk on the grill, and gave the paint a good rough surface to stick to. Only took about an hour, two coats seems to be all it needed to get an even look. Only chrome left on my taco is the rear bumper, and I'm planning on painting that black as well eventually.

If factory chrome is tacky what does that make a rattle can job?

I think its tacky to put a chrome coating on a plastic grill. And the rattle can job is dry now so it's not tacky anymore.
