Intermittent noise which SEEMS to come from my left side when driving. It only happens with the truck moving and doesn't increase or decrease in speed, pitch or intensity with engine rpm's or truck speed.

If anything, it seems wind related. If an 18 wheeler blows by it seems to increase in frequency. It is not a reciprocating sound, it's more of a faint rattle. There's nothing on the outside of the door I can find that would be flexing in the wind.

Took it to dealer for 1st (5k) service yesterday. Springhill Toyota in Mobile, AL. Third vehicle we've bought from them and nothing but kudos to them. They tried all afternoon and kept it overnight trying to find (and rectify) the noise. Claim not to hear it. They have a bump track next door at the Lexus dealer and said that wouldn't make it happen.

The ONLY thing they mentioned was a seat belt tightener ratchet mechanism, which they said is a common noise. I THINK I eliminated that from the list as I pulled the belt tight against it going down the road with no apparent change.

It's not bad enough to worry me now. Told them I'd drive it until it became obvious. They notated it on my service invoice.

ANY ideas? It sounds for all the world like a small piece of plastic flapping in the wind, but I can't find anything loose in the door area. I really thought it might be something to do with the airbag in the headliner, and the safety aspect of that made me ask them to look. They took it very seriously and tried like **** so I'm not faulting them whatsoever. Anybody had an issue like this?

Bought my 2015 TRD Off Road from the same dealer and will be taking mine in for the 5000 mile service next week. I must drive more than you as I took delivery on 3/28/2015.

Edit: your thread says 2015 but your profile shows 2014 so if it is a 2015 that would explain the low miles.

Please post the solution when you pin it down.

So far I have no problems.

No I haven't updated my info in my profile. Bought a '14 TRD OR there in Oct '13 and just traded it a month ago for this identical '15 ( color was only change, from black to white). Put 5k miles on it in a month. Never driven that much before. Dealt with Tim (big, bald headed, black guy) and could NOT recommend him enough. Great guy to deal with and really straight up dealership.

A factory in my town makes the weather strip for Tacoma's ( along with several other makes and models). Knowing people that have worked there describe the quality control or lack there off I'm not shocked that some have issues. Good thing is this company is not the only supplier of strip for the Taco.

Took my 13 access cab in yesterday for a rattle, more metalic than plastic, in the R/R access door. Rattle was interminent, worse on gravel roads, tho sometimes even engine vibrations would set it off. Could replecate the rattle somewhat by firmly closing that door. Turned out that one of two bolts on the lower seatbelt attachment bracket (inside the back door) bolt had worked loose. They loctited, torqued it, rattle is gone. (My problem was a seat belt assembly, your dealer thinks it is a seat belt assembly problem......is there a pattern here?)

Looked into it a little more today. Seems to be wind related more so than speed or road roughness. Turned off air conditioning to help find it and noise disappeared.

Prior post about weatherstripping is beginning to sound more and more like that's the culprit.
