Both of those statements are very reasonable.

    Well said.

I'm proud to say our products are made right here in the USA sourced mostly from companies in So Cal, and many are welded in our shop (see attached pic). Only our front bumpers are a 3 piece design to not only make them UPS shippable, but to add value by being able to replace individual pieces if damaged, rather than a whole new bumper.

We use gauge thickness because that is exactly what we get from our vendors, we can say 3/16" instead of 7 gauge as some do, but it's really .1793" instead of .1875", granted only a .008 difference.

We do produce our parts in volume to keep the costs down and we can then pass that savings on to our customers.

And, for the record, I run 100% of the products we sell on my truck, no different.

Sorry. I was referring to the March/April 2010 issue and after rereading it it is in fact the same one.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
my sliders are welded on as should be. if i stand on them (i'm under 200#), they will visibly bend. if i jack my truck on them w/ the hi lift, i have to jump on them to bend them back down from the body. they are welded w/ the bottom of the frame plate at the bottom of the frame rail. on a second note, larry bought that skid from me after i bought my ATO one. i took a small hit to it and it dented it up in the bend where it has that ~1" lip on the sides. eventually, everything i have on my truck will be replaced w/ some beefy stuff.

This seem like a"lets bash All-pro" thread and not a "which skid plate" kind of thread.

    Just sayin.

I started reading this thread, but decided that 95% of it is nonsense. Here's my conclusion. You social guys, and guys you have no idea what you are doing, go with stock, or plastic, or all pro. The guys you actually wheel, and not down dirt roads, get a real skid. Something with some beef in it. Not something made of beer cans that have been stuck together with rubber cement, and bolted to the bottom of a truck. Buy the best, it will save you later in life!

lol it seems like the op will be fine with stock skids but just for extra reassurance the doubling up stock skids doesnt sound like a shabby idea. For my application id love to go allpro since i dont put my truck through the stuff some of you guys do (although i wish i could :(.) but i would need an ap bumper too which would be nice but i dont have the money for a bumper and skids.

Something we advocate at CT4WD is to ensure you have a steel skid plate, e-locker skid and slider's if you're looking to driving off-pavement. Simple things like a ditch crossing on a gravel road could have your front diff or door sill sitting on the ground.

Have you done a comparison between all three? I've seen two of the three in action and they all serve the purpose nicely. Bud Builts are much heavier and you have to take that into account when you're planning out your suspension. The All-Pro's are nice because they are lighter, and have better ground clearance.

    I can attest:

Seriously un-called for. Sarah's a super rad person and it sounds like you haven't take the time to lift the phone and talk to her. Don't be a douche.

The Tacoma has logged over 10,000KM, been on trail every weekend, and most weekdays, slept 30+ days in the RTT in the past 4months.... i don't want' even think what this year was like!

You're missing out on some seriously good products and you'll noticed in the above photo's... I don't have an All-Pro sticker on my Tacoma. The only thing on my Tacoma are dents and scratches (Thankfully it's white) that have been put there from our trails in Canada, Rubicon, Moab, and Montana which All-Pro has enabled my Tacoma to get to some incredible places with amazing views. I can only recommend what I've tested and seen what happens on the trail. Majority of our Members run All-Pro and zero have had issues on the trail including myself.

Just get a set of steel skid plates from whomever, the simplest and a strong set up is All-Pro's.
