It was slicker than shit today and with all the rain and then colder temps this weekend I would suspect the driv No conditions are going to be poor at best. Also weekend traffic has been historically awful so be prepared.

If weather is iffy I carry chains, sleeping bags, and water/snacks just in case we get stuck. Those F’ers in minivans try to make it up here even in the worst blizzard.

like others said, carrying chains is required by law and a good idea. But you'll likely NEVER need them. 4x4 with M+S tires and your good to go. Just drive slow and cautious.

I always like to take any new vehicle to an empty snow/ice covered parking lot and let 'er loose for about 5 mins. It'll teach you a lot about how your vehicle behaves in snow/slick conditions.

Avoid typical traffic patterns like the plague or you'll spend 14 hours in stop n go (mostly stopped) traffic just to make it 20 miles. :annoyed:

Good luck, hope you find the deep powpapow.

Yesterday I could drift the truck in 4H and watched several people slide into each other in Tahoe Donner.

I try to always carry chains in truck on ski trips if it’s snowing but haven’t had to use them. After this last trip I should also bring my shovel.

I only got to ski lower half of Alpine yesterday but despite the shortness of runs there were some epic sections of knee deep snow. I wish I had been able to stay a few more days.l it’s gonna be epic.

But in the other hand I avoided the ridiculous gapers headed up from bay. I80 East was a parking lot of prius’ and minivans with chains on Sat afternoon while I headed back to Bay. Was so nice that all the semis were held.

Days like that I also carry a tow strap besides the chains and shovel.

A quick tug will save hours of shoveling.

I’m hoping to head up to my local resort tomorrow. Should be blue bird and deep!

    EPIC!

    Powpapow and bluebird! Love it.

I also throw traction boards in the back. They have saved me in deep snow.

I'm hitting Shasta this weekend. Anyone else? Look for the Speedway blue AC with sliders. Always got some green or brews to share.

Anyone going to be at Heavenly next Tuesday and Wednesday? If so, let's grab a beer or 12.

    Fresh slushy all day?

I’m planning on going up to my local resort tomorrow but my expectations are low. Maybe a few hours in the AM.

Went to Sierra yesterday, icy in the morning, slushy in the afternoon. Fell 3 times in the first 2 runs. Probably should've taken it easy on the ice, but the need for speed got the better of me.

    Washed her
    Waxed her
Installed the freshly painted fender flares.

Asked her where she wanted to go for lunch... and here we are.

First little dusting of snow up on the hill, anyone else feel that little chill in the air? Just picked up my 3rd Gen a month ago and I’m excited for this season already. Long time Sierra at Tahoe passholder, hope to see you all up on the hill!
