Locals have always called it Olympic Valley. The die hards anyways:..

Palisades Tahoe doesn’t even sound right. It’s a horrible name.. just because both Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows have a Palisades run. Is the only reason it’s named it

Heading to Moment tomorrow to pick up some goodies for this season.

I'm regretting selling off all my backcountry gear now, so I decided to pick up the CAST toe piece for my new skis and I'm thinking I'm due to replace my 8 year old boots. They only have 150 or so days on them though because cancer treatment fuxored 4 of those seasons.

They are awesome. I feel fortunate to have a shop like them local. I've purchased several skis from them over the years and they are great about demos.

Have to say, this was the best boot fitting I've had. Didn't feel like they were rushing me out and really took the time to get the best boot fit and style for what I was after. I had to cut out after the first boot to get an infusion and came back in the afternoon after picking up my son from school. We picked right up where we left off and when we were all done they took my son back and showed him how they make skis...pretty rad.

And the money shot...had some new CAST bindings mounted on my wildcat 101s and picked up the Dalbello Lupo Pro boots for a 50/50 option. Boot sole length is within 2mm of my firearrow f1 boots so I can run these in my other skis without dealing with remounts on everything. Now I need to decide if I want to get the CAST toe plate for my nighttrains or sell those and pick up something else for deep days.

Just found out today I get to do the new rental shop order for the snowboards. Never spent $185,000 on snowboards before.

Not North Face. I've got their Montana gloves and not really pleased with them. Used them for the better half of last season and the palm is already starting to come apart on me.
Been looking at Dakine's Excursion and Continental Gloves. Both Gore-tex and both have lots of positive reviews

I have some manzella gloves that I wear on warmer days. This is my second pair. They are typically good for 200 or so days of skiing before my fingers start getting damp.

For the real cold days I have some leather RefrigiWear mittens that I wear over a lightweight liner. They don't fit under my jacket at the wrist very well though.
