It's getting a little snowy up here!

 

Just rain most of the day here in Reno but that is supposed to change to snow soon. Any word on when the mountain will open?

 

If it dumps and grooming can set it proper the 16th but it could be 18th if it doesn't dump.

 

Looks like Thursday it is! Tail end of a cold now (covid test came back negative) so I'm hoping I'll be feeling well enough to get out for a bit to start breaking in the new boots.

 

Yeah the call was made this morning, we got lots of snow! Looks like I'll be training new instructors for the next 5 days!

Just booked a cabin for the last week of January. Maybe I'll see some of you up at Heavenly. Can't wait to get back out there, looking like a good season!

 

I’m going the week of New Years! Friends from out of state picked the dates …so we’re lucky it started snowing.

 

Itll be great up there. Looks like itll be snowing right up until you get up there!

@Tour991, day 3 on the mountain today...I try and keep an eye open for you but you all look the same

One of the ski instructors that was running a clinic stopped and chatted with us on wiggle...offered me a job. I guess the kids were making me look good out there. Our 4 year old picked right back up from where she was at the end of last year.

Once we get through the busy season let's chat about plugging them in for lessons again. I think our son wants to give snowboarding a try.

 

That's awesome. I'll process you tomorrow if you want to work. I'v been stuck inside the last 3 days. Only got out on Thursday.

After the holidays I can get you all set up i'v got a good snowboard instructor for him.

 

Ha, I was just talking to my wife about maybe picking up a Sunday coaching slot somewhere next year and getting the kids into a program. If I didn't have to keep my regular job for the benefits I'd love to be back on the mountain teaching.

I'm just happy to be back out on the mountain really. The groomers did a good job with things the last few days from what we saw. It'll be nice to get a refresh and fill in the trees a bit more but Thursday coverage was better than I thought it would be...seemed like the trees helped accumulate some of the wind blown snow.

 

Northstar was PACKED over the weekend…but amazing riding conditions.

 

Palisades actually wasn't too crazy over the weekend. I expected it to be a shit show but it was pretty manageable.
Wish I wasn't heading out of town this week - would love to get in on this storm that's fixing to roll through

Anyone here make their own boot dryer? I'm beginning to collect parts to build one and curious to see what others have done and what works/doesn't work and what they'd do differently.
