Super subjective. I live in South Lake so I don't mind a 5 minute drive to go check it out. I thought Heavenly was totally skiable and I had a good hour or two in the morning early this week but it's hard with so much terrain still closed since everyone gets funneled into the same runs no matter how skilled they are. Kids trying to wipe me me out on the chair lift, etc.

Ahh your 5 minute drive is 3-5hrs depending on when I leave for the bay area. I might......go up on a week day, find a spot to camp and take the next day off to get some runs in to get my knees wet for the season. I am no longer in the "charge the mountain all day without lunch"

I'm also close enough to sneak out for a quick trip. I skied Mt Rose on opening day with my son but haven't been back out. If you have a pass, the time, and a place to stay if you're not local it's totally worth it just to get out and slide on the snow a bit.

Yep, totally agree. I need like another 60" before I can take the snowmobile out though and I'm itching.

I went to Kirkwood last Sunday. It was just chair 5 but it wasn't bad. Hopefully they got some snow yesterday and today.

Welp, I guess I'll just go ride demo forest this weekend since it's still open lol. Nice and muddy right now lol. Will prob skoot a day trip during xmas break. Not really worth me taking a PTO day for a solo run at this moment.

Almost went last weekend, but the conditions couldn’t justify the 4 hour drive. Hoping to get out soon though!

In other news, I’ll be going snowboarding in Japan for my 40th birthday in February. Can’t wait!

Yup! Lifelong dream of mine! Spending 7 days at Niseko then I’m going to Tokyo for a few days before flying back home.

We are doing ok on what me made at Diamond Peak. Only a handful of runs open with 4 lifts running. This was how we looked last week up top.

I've been meaning to reach out to see how things were looking. Have some family in town first week of January and was thinking about getting some lessons for the nieces. I imagine that's a busy week for you though...if not let me know.

Hey Zach, Funny thing is I am over staffed for the 1st time in years and we don't have snow to open the entire mountain. There is a lot of availability for the next 2 weeks. Do you want to do a private or group lesson with her?

I haven't had issues with lines at any of the resorts I've been to this season. Seems like the complaints re lines are from the usual spots that always have lines.

Everyone needs to wash their vehicles though.

Also, Tahoe was looking nice the other day on our way home from DP...pulled off at the Mt Rose Hwy overlook and enjoyed the sunset while the next bit of clouds blew in.
