Well, that will work poorly and not for very long. Radios are sensitive to antenna length and you'll burn up the transmit circuitry over time.

Exactly, I think you've been ok so far because the radios only put out 3w, but you'll probably ruin the radio since it's on a different band than what the antenna is designed for. Now if it's an HF radio it could possibly work, but not for UHF/VHF that the Baeofeng uses.

 

This radio talk makes my head hurt...ill stick to the handhelds...lol

 

Ah, then I will be swapping out to a vhf/uhf antenna. Thanks for the heads up.

As a temporary measure, grab a Tram 1185 mag mount. Works great with these radios.

I was going for dramatic effect since CB is 27Mhz and HAM is 144Mhz.
