    It's not that bad. Adjust your schedule to avoid the heaviest times and you'll be fine. You just can't go into commute auto-pilot mode (you know, where you get on the bike and all of a sudden, you're at work).

    Yeah you really need to be aware of your surroundings on a bike. I don't know my girl has a Prius so 55mpg is pretty dam good too.

    I rode for 5 years. It can get hairy out there. On 80... too many nut jobs in cars out there in a massive hurry weaving in and out of traffic, not to mention the construction. I would never commute 80 on a bike.
