    @Me. Projekt, I've read on here a few times that oven cleaner will strip the chrome off the plastic.

    I tried that today, but since I couldn't separate the chrome from the insert, it didn't go too well.

    So on my 2015, I was able to separate the chrome from the insert, which would have made this easier. On my 2005 (current truck) it seemed like all the tabs holding the two together were "welded" so separating it wasn't happening.

    I did a test spot on the back to see what it'd do to the plastic. It seemed to take off the thinnest top layer of plastic, cleaning it up nicely. Then tried it on a small part of the chrome. Didn't really do much.

    Decided to just spray the whole thing down liberally to clean it off, and all that did was take off some of the black inner plastic. It actually looks better than before (because it's cleaner) but I may have prematurely aged it. Overall coulda been a lot worse.
