Just need a little venting!! I sold my stainless n-fabs last week & decided against buying black ones (b/c I liked the look of my truck without them). I decided to upgrade my stereo instead. I stopped by my local stereo shop Saturday and was set to drop it off today...UNTIL.............let's go back to Sunday!!!!

There I am watching football, minding my own f'in business, when I break one of my back teeth. Didn't hurt but I knew it definitely needed to be fixed.

Welllllllll if that wasn't enough my wife comes into the living room, stares at me for like 30 seconds and then says, "You need to stay calm".....long pause......."The kids just hit your truck and dented it". Well I'm the kind of guy that likes a clean, waxed and ding-free vehicle. I'm the guy that parks 100 yards from the front of the store, and always next to a curb so at least one side is protected.

So I go outside and sure enough there are 2 dents above the passengers side rear fender!!!! I see frickin' red!!!!

It just so happened that my 2 sons (11 and 9) decided to have a sword fight with some PVC pipes and one "slipped" out of ones hand. HMMMM...What made me really mad, other than my truck being jacked up now, is that I had told my oldest just 15 minutes prior that he needed to get out of the garage!!!

So now the $$ I planned on using to upgrade the stereo is going towards the dentist ($600 out of pocket WITH insurance) and whatever it costs to fix then dents (b/c I can't stand looking at them!!! Sorry for the long rant but I needed it!!!!!

you may be upset now, but you will look back at it later and use it as a bonding experience with your sons. your truck can be replaced but your boys are your boys, love'em and value them.

That sucks, both the tooth and the dents. Reminds me of the time my cousin was riding a bike inside my fathers garage and hit the side mirror with his elbow, knocked it right off the car. For years after, every time the old man saw my cousin he yelled at him about the mirror. Get it fixed, let it go. Life is too short.

...sounds like you have a temper problem if your wife was hesitant to even tell you. Like someone said above. Boys will be boys and a car is a car.

Look into the paintless dent repair and rule it out befoe you pay for "standard" body work type repairs. They are capable of some pretty amazing work.

Obviously the idea of responsibility for someones actions escapes you thought process here.

How about obeying when your parents tell you to do something?

Boys will be boys, but they also need to be taught responsibility and obedience when their parents tell them to do something, it could save their life some day.

Never make punishment punitive without using it as a teaching opportunity too.

The wife was hesitant to tell him. There is a difference between rage and punishment. When i did something wrong as a kid i got the belt. But it wasn't screaming at me for 15min. It was...." you messed up, go get the belt"

I could see my wife saying the same thing to me if my truck got damaged. "OK now...sit down and take a deep breath...I have some bad news...but it was an accident."

I totally get you. I was taught to park AWAY from everyone else or take 2 spaces way over in the corner. Some SOB opened his piece of shit door into my drivers door and knocked the paint off down to the freakin primer.
Sorry that happened, everytime I look at that spot on my door I get Pissed.:annoyed:
