i wouldn't drive over that with any factory OEM 4x4. something like that road needs to be customized. assuming the pic is the road you need to pass.

I've been in plenty of situations where I dislike the traction control. Pulling out of my office at work we've got packed snow coming out of a decline. The rear slips all the time, cuts engine power, then you're sitting in the middle of dry pavement with no engine power with traffic coming. I really wish I could hit the button, disable completely, then put it right back on. It's better than my 2nd gen which didn't have the option to somewhat disable at all.

You must be clueless then. I live in a mountainous area and spend a few days a week in the hills on exactly the type of terrain you are talking about and the 3rd gen does great. You might need to learn to drive in those types of conditions if the Tacoma ain’t working

Press the button once. Otherwise it sounds like you need an awd crossover. Your issue has nothing to do with tc but basic physics of friction.

In this situation, even defeating the traction control, it still cuts engine power. It's because it's not fully defeatable, which I would prefer for certain situations.

While I'm often not a fan of computer aids in snow driving, suggesting that a 4x4 Tacoma TRD Off-Road can't handle snow or offroad conditions because of them is pretty damn funny. I don't have a Tacoma (yet) but I assume all that stuff is disabled in 4L? Not sure what's happened with Toyota since my '03 4Runner Limited, but I was actually very impressed with the driver aids in snow with that.

To the OP, let's see a video of your stock '01 going up a "well traveled road" then one of your 3rd gen getting stuck on the same road. I call BS. You may have to adjust your driving style to match the new truck a bit though.

I assume you've never pulled into a street with a 45mph speed limit and you push the pedal harder and nothing happens. It's dangerous. I don't expect it's common for most situations. But I can duplicate it often throughout the winter. I just want to push the button that defeats traction control, to do just that.

THIS. Longer wheel base, more weight, much shorter stopping distance and far more advanced ABS.... the 3rd gen is EMPIRICALLY better in snow/ice.

Hold the trac off button for 3 seconds and its gone, OP is either a troll or a "get off my lawn!" type.

I turn onto the highway every morning in the ice and snow to head to work. It’s really quite simple

I think I've tried 3 seconds before. Do you have to be stopped? I'd do this every time I'm warming it up during the winter before leaving work.

This is unique. It's from a downhill slope packed snow and ice into a swift uphill, then level dry pavement. Scares the crap out of me every time.
