so wait.... If I go out into the parking lot right now, stomp on the brake and hit the gas..... she won't rev? do I have to be in gear?
I haven't tried to heel/toe since my civic days (completely stock 6th gen sedan FTW lol), . I'm pretty relaxed these days driving the taco, I brake, and if I need to shift I'm usually at the point of not needing the brake anymore so I just rev-match while coasting and go.
My truck and TacoMitch's are both 09's
@Canoehead with the 06 ( and the shiny bright new clutch ) what's yours do?

I have no idea to be honest. does anyone know the dates on the frame business? how long is it actually good for? when will they stop replacing frames? I think I remember something about the 10 years from in-service date... I'll try to look it up during lunch.

I know mine has the brake override because I was bedding brakes and the truck could cut. My tacoma has no business doing burnouts. Tires are too expensive anyway.

I think theres a point when you're applying the brake versus the gas, if you tap the brake lightly it doesnt cut.

Every car I've ever owned was super shitty for heel toe. Not sure about the supra, I think I have less than 300k on the manual, and it never ran well enough for me to even want to try LOL

I thought the deal with the throttle cut out was that activating the brake would toggle throttle off, but I did not think that you could not then apply throttle while you still held brake. I will test this afternoon. Also '07 :p

As for the frame deal, I am pretty sure the recall is over now so you will be covered under the completely separate warranty extension. The warranty is extended until I think July 2019. So, if you have rust on the frame but no holes that are both 10mm or larger and in the right places (crossmembers don't count if I understand correctly) you can get the frame sprayed. I would guess that if you just got inspected, were offered the spray but declined, you could go back for a frame if you somehow rusted yourself a 10mm hole before July. Doesn't sound very likely though.

    Got it,
look at Case #3, they sate that the customer has until July 2020 to schedule the undercoating.

Doubt I'd get the coating. its been undercoated with Krown/Rust Check most its life, looks pretty good under there IMO.

So I tried the gas pedal + Brake on the way home last night ( admittedly not the brightest thing to do in traffic ), but unless i'm doing it wrong or being a little :censored: about it. Mine's not enabled.
is there a time limit? I held in the brake with the left ( man that was weird ) and floored it with the right, all it did was chug along, I could tell the engine was trying to overcome the brakes, but I did not feel it cut out. I also am able to sit at a stoplight and rev while holding the brake.

I think we all need to get together and test this out on the trails.....

Ya, I've done the left foot brake on mine and it will kill the throttle and engine RPMs after like a second or 2. If I let off the throttle and reapply it the engine will respond again. From my test the other day. It will let me rev up the engine when it is at a stop with the brake applied first, but when I attempt to rev the engine up, dump clutch and hit the brake (burnouts) it kills the throttle. I don't have a hate on for electronic throttles because for the most part they work pretty good. I do dislike when stuff overrides what I want it to do because of some safety improvement. ABS brakes are about as far as I want to go.

Is the rim hot after a drive? Chances are you've got a seized caliper. Happens to me all the time.

Get the NAPA life time warranty calipers. They're a tad more expensive, but they're warrantied for life..

I don't know if NAPA knows what they got them selves into... Buddy at the desk said unlimited returns.

That said, since I don't wheel nearly as much I go through far less wheel bearings and calipers.

    +1 this ^^^^

had this happen to me the first summer I had the truck, I noticed an odd smell and a *very* warm rim. Mine was passenger as well.

I've got the Napa lifetime (eclipse? ) Caliper on there, Went for their rotor as well ( in for a penny in for a pound ) Before I pulled the trigger I did contemplate the StopTech package with Rotors, Calipers and pads, but the napa lifetime warranty did also intrigue me as well so I went with Napa. Its also interesting to note that from the records of the PO, this is the 3rd caliper the Passenger side has had ( Original, 1st replacement by PO, 2nd replacement by me )

when I took mine off, it was pretty clear the piston boot had cracked letting all kinds of crud build up in there causing the seize. One pad was almost down to the metal backing plate.

Let us know what you find out!

I had a glowing rotor once.

Generally freeing them up will work for a little bit.. but then they seize right up again shortly after. I have rebuild kits at the house, as long as your pistons aren't dickered you can use them!

Cruzin round TW and found this,
a Fellow Canuk had a decent idea for a hitch safe.
