I done the search and couldn't find anything on the number of leafs in a stock pack. For some reason I thought they were four leaf springs total including the thick one on the bottom which I assume is the overload spring! I have some rear sag and some tire rub ( a lot), I ordered helper springs assuming mine were stock with just a leveling kit installed. After noticing my u bolts were too short to allow for another spring, I noticed my leaf has 5 leaf springs total! Is five leafs total, correct or do I have a AAL already installed? The shocks are stock height but I always thought every stock u bolt I had ever seen had enough thread to accept an AAL but I could easily be wrong on that!

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
I think mine had 3 including the overload. Not 100% though. Will check in the morning

My 99 had 3 leaves plus the overload. The first 2 (longest) leaves, at first glance, can look like one leaf.

I have since added a 3-leaf progressive AAL and removed the overload.

Well damn it! I'm still counting 5 total anyway I look at it! I guess it already has an AAL installed but it doesn't seem to be doing much for the lift part or sag. Should I replace the AAL with the new AAL? Or should I go a different route completely? Have everything for the AAL's including taller Billstein's and 2 inch lift AAL's. I got some pretty major tire rub that needs to be resolved asap. Any help/advice would be awesome and appreciated!

The short one in the last pic appears to be an add a leaf. Counted mine earlier I I have 4, 5 if I had the overloads in.

Do you have a side-pic of your truck? Where are you rubbing? From what it looks like, yeah there was an AAL added in the past, but your leafs don't appear to be negatively arched, flat, but not negative.

What specific rim/tires are you running?

it had 33/12.50/18 Nitto Extreme Mud Grapplers on Rock Stars but I just replaced them with some 275/70/R18 BFG's. I have very little tire rub in the front but nothing like I was having with the Mud Grapplers which measured about 32 inches with wear. The BFG's measure about 32.5 if I remember correctly. Never would've dreamed it had AAL already on it, because it has stock bumper and spare tire but when u put a few things in the bed like a 20 quart cooler (full), cpl duffle bags, chainsaw, a full set of metric/standard sockets, ratchets 1/2 inch and 3/8 drive which stay in the truck toolbox at all times. I can see it sagging more after I add the chainsaw, duffle bags, cooler and a 75 pound dog, it'll lower it probably a good 1/2 inch, with the dog in the cab. I checked the numbers on the shocks that are on it now and they came back as stock ride height. I just bought the truck recently for mainly a hunting rig that could make the 6 hr round trip weekly to where I hunt and still go where I need to go. I just took the spare off and it raised it probably close to a 1/2. Do all AAL's , helper springs and such produce lift or do some just act as a way to increase load capacity ? I would think that with 4 leaf springs and a AAL, it wouldn't be sagging so easily, I was adding the2 inch lift AAL's and taller billsteins for the rear to remedy the problem I have now but it seems I'm late to the party on the AAL! Here's a couple pics I took a few minutes ago of the tire/fender flare close proximity. Without the spare tire on it now, it has maybe an 1 1/4 between tire and fender flare and the other side has a little more gap to it. Here's a pic of the drivers side gap between the tire/flare closest to the rear bumper.

AALs are just bandaids man. They work well for a few years but they do not replace a pack. Yes they add weight capacity but your leafs are shot and so is the current aal.

Replace the leaf pack. Its the correct way to get back your lift and weight capacity.

^ knows what he's talking about.

Replace don't even consider an AAL. You'll be back here in less than a year asking why it's sagging again. An ADD-a-leaf is supposed to ADD load capacity and lift to the stock pack, not do it's job for it. If you want to stop rubbing and fix the issue, not delay it, then upgrade to a full new pack.

DC 's run thru leaves quicker due to added size and weight of cab.

I gotcha! Thanks for the explanation! Well damn, I guess I'm fixing to spend some more money! What would you fellas recommend, stock height, leaf pack with lift? I need something not too expensive but don't want any junk either! I spend a good bit of time on the asphalt but may be in the woods/country for weeks at a time since we operate a pay hunt lodge and drive a lot of old roads and some bad spots at times.

No such pack as a stock height with lift..ha

Id probably recommend the OME Dakars. You'll want lift coils for the front to match. Probably 881s.

You can get a full OME kit for about a grand from Wheelers Offroad.

Another thing you could do is a OMD pack, he can make them for you or you can build your own
