unless you are very experienced and fully equiped i would be cautious going solo. all it takes is one big oofff and walking out is the way.

you can get a cradle for a winch if you have a trailer hitch. its nice to have a winch when you're solo. its saved my ass on gated areas where no one would be able to get to where I was

Anyone running OME heavy duty springs think they’re squeakier than the OEM lol? I know the Tacoma spring packs are notoriously noisy but just curious. Considering adding some padding if I can find it for stupid cheap.

Mine make noise, I clean them and usually after my first outing off road they’re squeaking again. I stopped caring.

If my HD Dakars were to stop squeaking I would probably be on the side of the road 'cause those damn things either snapped or fell out. The pitch and volume might change with the weather but the squeak is always there.

I like to pretend people in parking lots are staring at my truck because it looks super rad, and not because my dakars sound like a burlap sack full of ferrets having an orgy:anonymous:

    Welcome to TW!

I would recommend checking out the Build thread of @PcBuilder14 (dude name Brent), he's got a cool, capable truck that he built up a bit at a time.
Some basic recovery gear, sliders/skid plates and he went all over the place. Its helpful to check what the truck can do on its own (plus maybe some better rubber than stock) and slowly build it up. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/pcbuilders-2018-tacoma-build.570415/

Agreed on the tires. IMO they are the biggest difference you can make on any vehicle.

Thanks! That sounds like exactly what I need to check out. I've got 285/70R17 all terrain tires on it at the moment which I hope will get me around where I want to go. Great info!

My bad :D These aren't the greatest pics but it at least gets the idea across. The closer pic is before I got the side steps on.

hahaha out of all the responses to this, this one wins. Always feeling that way. Figured that’s the case given that’s how my OEM leaf packs were. Thanks everyone lol. Will just turn the volume up.

Me. Mine used to be really bad, but I got the new leaf liners, took them apart and really greased them up. Been quiet for 5k+ miles now.

I solo often. It's just about not putting yourself in a terrible position when you're alone. Airing down and traction boards will take you a long way.

I get more noise from the front end of my truck than I do the rear. My dakars must be made of unobtainium, they don't make a sound. :notsure:
