Hey man. I am installing the trimmed bushwackers myself in the next few days. Looking for some pointers. I am in Littleton (near you I think). Does beer entice you at all? I may need some assistance. Looks like I will be drilling into the body since I cut off the bottom edge. Any help I can get would rule!

As of right now, no. They aren't on the truck. Yesterday I went to Corey's shop and we did the rear fender trim (rubbing in the back with my 285s). He also trimmed the Bushwackers for me. Just chopped the bottom edge off.

so you cut the bottom edge of the bushwacker off and now you're looking on how to install them?

Most of the holes line up the OEM holes....

Well I follow your thread and Defcon's. Saw your truck at the Toytec show too. Saw you trimmed the bottom edges off to allow better clearance. Going for the same thing here. Assuming you drilled through the body for the holes that don't line up??

there was only one in the front and maybe one in the rear...wasn't too bad

i found some bolts that mimic the bushwacker bolts, but longer and stainless...then some nuts and plastic washers for spacers to the outside of the fender...fender washers, lock washer and wing nut on the inside..

see how many line up..get the bolts in there...put tape on the paint where the hole will need to be drilled...mark...take bushwacker off...drill..remove tape and put some paint on the edge of the hole...then put on the fender with bolts...

i have some projects on the truck and house planned for saturday, so i don't see myself having any spare time, sorry...

even if you have to oblong an existing hole for it to match up, having a fender washer inside will help bridge that gap when tightening down...

go tight, but not too tight as well when bolting in...the plastic can bend if the spacer is not right which can lead to cracking

Interesting that you were rubbing enough to warrant trimming sheet metal out back. I didn't think that was necessary for 285s.

Many thanks man! I totally understand. I have a mountain of leaves to clear on top of doing the fenders. Busy times. Really appreciate your time to respond with tips!

No spacers actually. When wheeling though, I almost ripped off the drivers side flare completely it was rubbing so bad. Broke several of the clips inside the OE flare. It was a mess.

The rubbing was actually the bottom, front edge of the rear flare and the metal.

It was hitting hard right here.....
