You got any suggestions on which 5 Gallon tank to use in conjunction with the ARB twin?

 

Lots of people want to run air tools, and an ARB/Viair solution/CO2, is the way to go. Everyone that I talk to I question about the air tool use and they can't see to justify that they actually need it other than it's cool. Hand tools work perfectly well, and if you want more speed battery tools work well.

 

@Nate87 you ran a tank and compressor under your bed right?

 

electric impact gun is one of the best purchases I've made.

 

Works for seating the bead, but still need a compressor to air up.

 

I've been eying the Dewalt 20v xr 1/2 impact. I got the Weedeater for xmas, I think I'm gonna get some more batteries for my birthday so will probably jump on it soon.

 

Not much going on with it at the moment. Just getting everything lined up to hopefully build soon when time permits. Definitely miss my old rig.

 

So moral of story..
Budget compressors like the Smittybilt/MV/others, inflate tires slower than Viair/ARB/other 100% duty cycle ones,
Provide data, not opinions of data,
We don't have enough data on exact same size tires to make good comparisons, Let's work on this(make a data sheet of tire size vs time vs compressor)
If you talk budget I will provide data and opinions of budget items,
Run what you like

Electric > Air tools for practical use without adding extras to the air system.

Thanks, lol 3/4" is just overkill. My buddy has one, he's just a little ridiculous . Since I have the other tools/battery, I'll stick with the brand. Now to track down the Dewalt dealer I saw on here.

 

I went with and AVS 5 gallon aluminum from grunion fab. It was the least expensive aluminum tank I could find and it fit my needs perfectly. Tucks under the bed where the spare tire was.

 

Yeah. Both were tucked up under the bed.

 

Good idea. Should also have notation on tank size if tank is used.

Yea, I think a tank would only make a negligible difference. The first tire gets a boost but the rest are all being filled by the compressor unless you stop and wait for the tank to fill. This isn't an exact calculation because the Load Index of my tire 123Q isn't listed so I used the highest 115Q. Per the following website my 265/75/16 Tire air volume: 83.5Liters = 22.0583664 US gallons. In my case I have a 2 gallon tank, that's not that much air even at 150 psi.

Air tools are completely overrated for trail use IMO. For wrenching, hand tools work fine, electric impact is nice and can accelerate work, but impact only fits on a handful of places on a Tacoma. And agree on the 1/2" impact. The largest socket needed on the Tacoma is a 35mm, for axle nut, easily handled by 1/2" quality electric impact.

I personally hate the noise air tools make.
