90, I have my pressure switch set low.

I think I will do 90 between the manifold and the hose to the tire ports and 150 between manifold and tank.

High pressure in the tank stores more air but the compressor has to work harder to fill it. I take it you'll have a regulator to step it down from 150 to 90?

Oh man I feel like I’m learning a lot right now.

My thought is that the line with the 90 psi water filter will only be between compressor and tires and never see above 30.

The line with a tank will have the 150 psi rated one.

So with that nothing should have to be stepped down correct? Or are you suggesting I don’t let my tank go above 90?

One other part you need is a check valve after the compressor. Most compressors bleed air backwards through the intake.

Anything connected to the tank will see whatever pressure is there, including the tire fill lines whenever they aren't actually bleeding air into tires. The manifold lets you direct air to different lines but doesn't change the pressure in any of them unless you put a pressure regulator on that line. You can stop airflow in any line with a ball cock but the compressor will run until all open parts are filled to the pressure switch cutoff number. Mine turns on at 70 and off at 100. I use a regulator to control pressure to my air bags and another on the air tool line.

@Jakoda I would suggest more than 30PSI to fill up the tires

Yes this all makes sense. I will have the line to the tires separated from the tank with ball valves that way the line with the 4 tires will never see the line with the tank. I will post pictures more in depth when I have the rest of the parts.

    Why is this?
My current stock tires run at 30 psi according to the inner door panel this is what you should fill them at.

You can still fill them to 30 PSI internal pressure. Using more input pressure will fill them faster.

Use a nice long hose so the compressed air cools enough for the filter to catch moisture instead of passing vapor
Will you be able to reach the drain on the filter?

Installing the compressor wasn't bad. The tricky part for me was the wiring since i'm not using my compressor for lockers, just an air source, there was a lot of extra wires I wasn't going to use. I'd just suggest cleaning up the harness to make it easier in case you gotta troubleshoot later. I opened mine up and took out what I didn't need, then taped it up again. I'm only using four wires. The compressor circuit and the switch circuit.

Interesting I see what you are saying about the filter. I will move it to the tank side and yes I will be able to access the drain.
ugh yes so many extra wires. I think I need even less of them because my switch in on a switch pro style 6 button with relays and fuses already under the hood. And my relay box only has input for 1 wire.... I think I need the purple one.

Just received my compressor, thanks for posting this, I think I need to do the same, and I won’t be wiring through the cab either, going to put my switch with the compressor, no need to get back in cab to switch compressor on, when I am under hood and around tires to fill! I am also not using for lockers.

This is a great thread. Can someone give me some dual compressor mounting bracket options for under the hood OVER THE FUSE BOX? So far, Ive only found a mounting bracket (slee) that will take the place of my second batter over on the passenger side.

Haven't heard of one for there. You could contact paranoid fabrications for a custom job.

The same shit everyone else has.
Im in the process of converting my open system into a closes system with a tank.

Currently just running a compressor on a manual switch. Works fine for inflating tires.

I plan on installing a set of Firestone Ride Rites and would like to change the open system into a closed system - tank, water trap, check valve, pressure switch - to control the Ride Rites. Planning on keeping the set up simple and using 2 paddle valves to run the air bags vs a manifold or set of valves.

Ive bagged vehicles before so I know how to set everything up. Not an issue.

I did a buncha searching and couldnt find answers for a few questions though...

    1. Mounting the tank. I see most people install them up under the bed where the spare tire would sit. Not interested in doing this since my spare tire isnt going anywhere.

I would like to mount the tank up under the cab along the frame rail or in the void in front of the gas / behind the transfer case. Has anyone mounted a tank here? seems like a good open spot to take advantage of.

    2. What seems to be a good size tank to run for a set of Ride Rites? Im used to using big 5 gallon tanks to fill 4 air bags from empty to 40+ PSI on bagged cars.

What seems to be the best minimum size for the Ride Rites? I see lots of kits they sell are really small tanks (less than 1 gallon). Im aware a bigger tank will aid in quicker inflation on tires but curious to know what size people run for helper bags only.

    Thanks
