    I don't think 1985 supports OBD2
    And some scanners have battery that needs to be fully charged to function.

    Try a different scanner so you can rule out your scanner being the issue.

    Thank you for that link, I will do some testing and see what seems to be the problem. Just seems strange that it has power, then looses it.
