With Google maps you can download your location city to the device to use offline. If your traveling this may not help much but could always hotspot to your phone. I used a 7" tablet like this

While that sounds great. It has functioned less than expected for me when away from service. This is mainly because you cannot store any routes offline also. It is a great back up for local information though.

With all that, there are a ton of excellent offline apps. Like Gaia that was mentioned above. I have been a fan of CoPilot GPS because it was cheap and easy to use. It has most major trails on it and you can have routes saved offline.

In the end, life is really good right now for navi flexibility.

Cool idea . when I get it and get it all set up I will play with that . I will take heat for this because most seem to hate it ,but I actually find the Nav in the truck to work just fine . We have traveled cross country and had no more problems with it than any Garmin GPS units we have had . We usually use the google walking maps once on foot using the phone , so all should be covered .
Also I do not want to have to play with the tablet while traveling to switch back and forth between maps and Fusion .

Yea not a great option more of a work around. I had a cheap tablet & wouldn't do maps well because of processing power. I would be a few blocks ahead of it all the time! I did get a better tablet that seemed to handle it much better.

I believe there are PIDs for them in Fusion, but I don't think you can program different ones like you can in Carista / TechStream.

Ok good to know. I got the Carista dongle but I haven't rotated in my extra wheel yet. I was kinda wondering if anything other app would do that so I don't have to pay the 1 week pass. I need this ability but I want a dashboard app for the long term

Just a bit of problem solving info for anyone thinking about doing this .
I bought the OBDlink MX+ deal awhile back found here on a TW thread ,and it worked great with my Samsung S7 phone and OBD Fusion and extra Toyota pids from google play.

I then bought an Amazon Fire HD 8 8th gen tablet and hacked it to install Google play to use my Fusion app ( from Google play)and my paid for Toyota pids. I tried to get it to work and had problems with the pid gages freezing . It also did not have the Toyota pids available on the menu . Bummer . so I down loaded the free OBDlink app that came with the OBDlink MX+ . It also had freezing problem with the gages .
It turns out that OBD Fusion and OBDlink apps are the SAME APP with different names . The OBDlink app is free with the MX+ and includes the advanced apps for Nissan, GM Ford and Toyota if you want them .
So , I uninstalled both apps from my tablet and installed just the free OBDlink app and the free Toyota advanced pids from Amazon Prime . IT NOW works PERFECTLY . I guess both apps were fighting for the same resources .
Hope this may help someone out .
On holidays and such , an Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet sells for $50 , and that is pretty cheap for a pretty good tablet , and it uses any Prime services you may all ready pay for .

Just open the forum on your tablet. Screen shots are usually power and volume down same time. On a Samsung you can use the palm of your hand and swipe from one side to the other and it will screen shot.

    Heres mine.

simultaneously push the power and volume down for a second, this is standard for most all Android base products

Wow that is awesome!!! I like the idea of a gear count to know exactly what this truck is doing. Would also be good to have a wideband air/fuel gauge to keep an eye on how it's running. I'm curious how good this factory tune is before I do the OVTune in the future but AFR & the knock count would clue that in for sure!

I tried the trick a couple times but I must not be doing something right . Anyway yours is MUCH cooler than mine . I just have 18 square boxes on mine . I still use my laptop for TW and I have to learn the android stuff differences yet as to how things work .

Size and design is able to be changed afterwards just press and hold. You can also load some preloaded designs and modify from there.

I need to figure out how to do the TC lock like on the other posts

I tried again and all that happens is the volume bar chows up . Unless it is taking a screen shot and putting in in the memory or something .I do not even know where to look yet lol.

That part I found , I have the gear and status of the torque converter along with temps for the engine oil, trans oils 1&2, coolant , A/F , knock F/b , Knock correction value, mass air flow , misfires, calculated load , HP ,demand torque ,acual torque, timing and voltage and RPM .
Pretty much all I know how to do on the tablet so far is this app.
