Hey guys! Planning a trip to the ONF March 28th-31st 2019. Hoping to have a good mix of trail riding, and check out some of the springs/lakes.

I’ve done a good amount of research online, have watched a lot of YouTube videos of people’s trips and trails rides.

Was kind of wondering if anyone had any advice with trails or a route they like to take or any tips to make my trip a better experience. Lived in Florida for 22+years and never been to the ONF. So figured it was time to go do some exploring, just don’t want to go in completely blind.

I will also be primitive camping, so any camping location tips is also a +.

Look forward to hearing some responses

    Thanks guys!!

Stay north or away from Juniper Prarie. It's closed for camping, a bear there is not shy of ripping open tents looking for food.

Haven't been there since the early 90s but I do remember some deep sand on a lot of the trails and some of the NF Roads. Recommend traction boards, Hi-lift, etc. if planning on exploring any side trails.

Post some pics when you get back.

We will definitely be exploring, I have anither Tacoma buddy and a friend with a Jeep so coming with. We have minor recovery gear and a hi-lift jack and I also have winch if needed. Haven’t acquired any tractiin boards yet. I will post some pictures for sure!!

You should be good then if your traveling with other vehicles. Would love to get back there one day and do some exploring myself.

Yessir, I learned a long time ago to never go wheeling alone.

Iv only heard great things about ONF so I’m pretty excited to just get out there and explore myself!! Always more fun to go with friends or someone who’s a little more familiar with the area, but I’m sure after a couple trips under my belt I’ll figure it out.

I went a couple years ago pretty easy trails mostly just sugar sand. Hardrock isn't to far away there is a fairy crossing which is kinda cool to check out. If I were you keep a look out for rattlesnakes and bears.
