 I can't afford to roll let alone have the babies with me! Is that the only way up?

Umm, I am no way going to roll my 2010 Taco either... A Samuri (like a CJ-5) rolls a lot easier... and with poor driver judgement + trying to impress others = disaster!

I will leave here in an hour or less and check it out...

Well... when are you off work? I could go up after lunch... no worries, if you want to meet today. Otherwise.. I will just have a look around and make sure the road is open so we all just don't arrive there after Nessy Burgers and find it shut down.
The road up from Twin Oaks Valley is great... pure A-TRAC or lockers from the start... but I am not so ready to scratch up my truck a lot, again... had it detailed since then. I will PM you my cell phone.

Make sure that the trails are Prerunner friendly, or else we will have to just drive home after eating:eek::D

Okay, back from Deer Springs and Twin Oaks Valley... not good news (maybe)...

At the top of the cul-de-sac past the ARCO station (AM/PM) are 'no trespassing' signs and one closed gate. There is a 'road' next to the closed gate as well as a driven over berm... then a bit to the left of the gate and sign, is another road with fresh tracks (All Terrain T/As).

    SprintPhoto_bppvg1_2ebda7dcf4f9c784ad9f8c539b50d777bfa40055.jpg

My thinking is it is unwise to lead a 'group' into an area posted to keep out.

I drove down to Twin Oaks Valley to check out the access up from there (the way I went last February) and found they re-graded the road up and placed a big no trespassing sign at the entrance. A gate (open) was just up from the sign, with more signs.

I went back to the AM/PM road, parked and then statred texting with ToucanV13 about what I saw and thinking it won't work for us... I finally drove in, saw a Chevy truck parked on a left branch road, that leads up to the 'drug airport' (I think he was dumping or ??). I drove ahead on a road that soon ended... Then drove on out.

If Toucan or another TWer goes in and finds the road up the mountain unblocked... let us know... Otherwise, I don't have any other nearby off roading ideas... Nate Harrison Grade is a nice graded dirt road to the top of Palomar... PreRunner friendly... I go there every year after a snow fall to use 4WD in the snow. It is just a bit of a drive, but right off the 76 in Pauma Valley.

Man, is there no more open areas we can get off the pavement in North County? I would love to find a place we can get into the riverbed with some deep sand!
