Ignition is off, when I plug in the scan tool it powers up and starts scanning for codes but never acomplishes the scan even if I turn ignition on. Corect me iff i'm wrong but the scan tool shouldn't power up untill ignition is on right.
Also my radio has no sound, my driver door speaker pops every once in a while upon engine startup, and if the vehicle sits for a few days the battery is nearly drained. How r these inter related???

don't know about the scanner but it sounds like you hot wire on the radio is loose and is grounding out and draining your battery. and it might be touching your speak wire making it pop. I would take it out and check/redo all the connections back there. Is it stock or aftermarket headunit?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The OBDII port is powered at all times. No need to worry about that. I think you may have two different issues: bad radio or ground and a dead cell in your battery.

No grounding issues, the factory radio was just bad. Pioneer radio sounds great.
