Wasn't sure where to put this, so this section seemed the most appropriate.

I just installed a Uniden PRO520XL in my 06 Tacoma yesterday, and today when I went to tune it in with an SWR meter, I came upon a very strange issue...

It's easier to show in a video than it is to try to explain it

Like stated from your other thread....

I would go back through the whole system and look it over real good. I had an issue installing my amp. Wired everything up and couldn't get power. Turned out I didn't crimp one eyelet connector enough, even though I squished the bejesus out of it. How are you powering the radio? Go straight to the battery if you haven't already. Just have to keep eliminating possible causes. Sorry that's all I got.

Forgot to add, Move that coax away from other wires. And channel 6 is the "Super Bowl" channel. :D Bunch of nut jobs with tens of thousands of watts trying to out-do one another. Some signals that you think are local can be thousands of miles away do to "skip".

going to try a temporary jumper power wire directly to the battery and see if that does anything. right now it powers up off the ACC on circuit of the radio

oh yeah that was definitely the problem, lol

works perfect with a jumper wire; even shows the TX strength when the mic is keyed now, something it wasn't doing before!

Got everything buttoned up and back together; works great now! Hooked the SWR meter up after the re-wire just to make sure the weak power wasn't messing with the measurements before, and sure enough it was out of tune, lol. No problem; 2 minutes later, right on about 1.0 for channel 1 and 40. Receiving even sounds cleaner now :D
