No loose wheel center caps? I'd use the post jack and jack up the front wheels and check wheel bearings by wiggling them. Also check brakes and backing plates. Could be a spring for rear brakes has come loose. Pull the drums and check.

Don't think its fast enough for a carrier bearing. Seems more wheel speed.

Mine sounded just like that at low speeds..was carrier bearing roached. But could be something else, just something to check..

Need some guidance on how to check these things. I know how to do simple stuff but not carrier bearing lol. I’m gonna jack her up tomorrow and get my buddy to help me spin the tires to try and re-create then noise that it made

I don’t have center caps on my truck at all, how do I go about checking backing plates? So much stuff to check only a little craftsman 120 piece tool kit to work with! Any way I can jerry rig it to stop making a noise so I actually know what’s doing it and can focus in on that part to replace?

So am I able to look for play in the carrier bearings and how urgent is it that I replace them if this is indeed the issue?

It will move a little bit, but its basically a rubber bushing with a bearing, i had vibes put a new one in and not too long later it went bad again squeaking and squealling like yours. I think it was the cheap manufacturer part i bought. Changed it again and never had an issue.
Id say it needs attention soon but still driveable IF thats your problem. Good luck

All you need is the tools to change a tire. Backing plates just check how close they are to rotors on the front. Rears you'll need to pull wheels and drums. Look for any rubbing marks. Shinny spots.

don’t laugh at me for this, but I just looked under my truck and couldn’t find a carrier bearing for the life of me but I may have not looked hard enough. It’s on the driveshaft right? This is worrying me :annoyed::goingcrazy:

Yup. It'll be behind (rear side) of the transfer case.

Follow the rear drive shaft from the rear differential and it runs up to the bottom of the truck. That joint is the carrier bearing.
