Still hard to tell whats wrong from our standpoint. If its questionable safety issue tow it. Sucks but sometimes you have to

I have Triple A. Honestly I don’t think it’s unsafe and the shop is about a half mile away or a bit more. So I may drive it and hope for the best...

Indeed. Hopefully it’s something with the driveshaft being improperly lubricatedor tranny fluid... something that won’t cost a whole lot to be replaced.... really hoping for the best here

I had issue with my 98 tacoma trying to shift into 4x4 by itself...i thought i broke an axle. Never did figure that out but it was usually when it rained or hard right turn. I finally noticed the 4x4 light illuminate when it it happend. I think it was shorting thg he 4x4 solenoid. But not constantly.

Whats the conclusion? Should I get her towed or risk it driving her .7 miles?

Give her a wash and a good wax. That should make her smile at least.

Update: looked under her again today... and noticed that my transfer case is leaking something. Smelled it and it didn’t smell like gear box oil (because I know that smells terrible.) but it still had the feel and look to be some sort of fluid. Do the transmission and transfer case share the same oil or are they separate? This may be whats causing my issue

Pretty sure it’s gonna end up being something wrong with my transfer case. Hopefully it’s not a super expensive fix
