Never had one do that before in 30 years of car ownership. Knew it was on its way out. Oh well. Let's see if this thing jumps. What's a decent truck brand for a 2016? Will see if I can make it to store to install.

Damn, that's a long time. Most people only make to the 2-3 year mark

Everyone I've been talking to recommends the Optima batteries
Interstate used to be my go-to, but apparently they're not the same quality anymore. I've had several of the Interstate batteries exceed 7 years

I replaced my 2016 battery last summer with an Interstate. Started using Interstate 10 years ago with my Nissan Murano and then with my sold Chevy Silverado.

I don't know anyone who recommend Optima anymore. Ironically I have the Interstate from Costco though.

Mine is at 5 years as well. It’s beginning to die based on a recent test but it’s still good. I’ll throw a Deka in once the OEM goes

That’s about how long mine lasted. I have a 2016 that I bought in October of 2015. Replaced the oem battery a few months ago. Showed no signs of dying either. Just wouldn’t start the truck from one day to the next.

I replace my batteries every 4-5 years, not worth the hassle of it failing when I'm out with young kids or for my wife.

I guess I never owned a vehicle that long.... and never replaced a battery on the used vehicles I have driven. Kind of surprising to me battery's don't last that long especially the new ones. But seems like everyone on here isn't surprised. What am I missing, did all of a sudden quality in batteries just drop years ago. I haven't owned anything newer then 2010 except this truck, and this is the first new vehicle I have purchased.

The oem batteries are crap with low cca. They don’t like winters much. I’ve been through three in three years. Only have the truck running off it.

Old vehicles were off when you turned them off. Modern ones have a lot of computer functions that need to be maintained so something is always drawing power at a low level.

This is exactly the opposite of what a starting battery needs for a long life, the constant low draw is hard on them.

Modern vehicles also have much higher under hood temperatures than the oldies, heat is the #1 enemy of a battery.

In before all the "Oem batteries are crap". Oof, too late. Still on my original and expect it to be in the truck for awhile. Last Toyota I had in 16 years I changed the battery once. Thanks Toyota!

OEM batteries are great. I don’t know what all these folks are talking about. Take care of your battery and it will take care of you.

My battery should last another couple years no problem, considering my truck sits 5 days a week. No trickle charger by the way.
