Just gathering the parts to do this mod. I have a timer from timers.shop that I plan on using. Looks a bit smaller than the Wolsten and cheaper too. You need to pick up their external programer to program the timer. Haven't used it yet but when I do I'll post an update.

Is it cheaper with the programmer?

$17 for the timer and $5 for the programer on their website. I purchased a timer and programer a few years ago and never used it. Looks like it should work, but haven't tried it yet.

Definitely cheaper, might be faster too as I got my shipping notice on the 11th and it’s not here yet.

Be nice if the relay had enough output terminals but I made up a chair terminal with 1-female and two male spade connectors for the mirrors and will add another terminal to the relay for the return wire to the switch.

The black stuff potting the inside and terminals of the wolsten tech timer relay is just abs cement. A minute or so with some acetone cleans it off enough to solder a lead wire to the Load terminal inside the relay enclosure. Putting the extra terminal next to trigger1 seems good. It’s just a male spade terminal on the lead wire and repotted after soldering to Load.

Since I have an aux fuse panel and ground buss under the center console I’ll be installing the relay there and running the wires to the mirrors/switch under the carpet along the front seat mounting rails and over to the door grommets. I could go up through the dash but it’s more trouble and more wire for no real benefit.

Woot! All hooked up and working. The extra spade terminal I slipped through the relay housing(next to trigger1)worked just fine to activate the secondary switch led. The terminal has a jumper soldered inside the housing to “load” and is glued in with abs cement.

Just burned up the switch. Anyone have a drawing to wire the Highlander switch without using a relay?

Okay, spotter mirrors acquired. As noted in the general 2nd gen thread, I'm foregoing a relay since there are 10a micro timers out there. I'm also not bothering with getting an OEM mirror switch that has the heat/fold button in it. I'm just getting a micro momentary on: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KX24WWS/ and a 10a rated mini-timer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HNDOCKK/

That makes this dead simple. I'm also going to use my aux fuse box to actually supply power to the entire setup, so technically always hot, but it will be fused and grounded appropriately. Now I just need to decide where I am in terms of having time to do it, especially with winter setting in hard here and me having to work outside.

Got the replacement high lander switch. Wired relay in per first page of this thread. Orange (top) light on the switch light when running lights are turned on. This doesn't seem correct to me. Anyone have thoughts?

Finally took time & got this working. I must have had the switch upside down when I originally wired it up. I changed the wiring & all works as it should. To anyone else doing this, make sure the switch is upside right before connecting the wires to it.

Thanks to all who worked to put this thread together. I got the mirrors and Highlander switch put in back in November; the trim just got put back last night because of some other projects. I was able to fit the relay just in front of the driver door behind the door sill plate/kick panel; in the first picture below the wiring harness that lives just in front of the door is pulled loose for access. I haven't needed this very often yet, as I'm usually able to park under a carport, but as winter kicks in I'm looking forward to being able to see behind me. Thanks again!

I just finished up this install this afternoon. I sourced a used Highlander dash switch with the pigtail and about 3” of wire for $25.
on eBay, TRQ heated mirror glass for $35 also for Highlander on eBay. Got a relay with pigtail and a fuse tap for another $12. on eBay.
I built the wire harness at work to the given dimensions and paid $25. For wire and miscellaneous connectors. I probably spent an hour
and a half building the harness all solder and heat shrink connections, and bench testing. Spent about 4 hours on final install, Total time
spent 5 1/2 hours, about $100. spent. Now just waiting for some real winter weather to test it all out.

What ray did you get? The one posted originally is never in stock. I have mirrors ready and just need to wire them up.
