One of the side plates, the side part that goes between the bumper and the frame, is rusted down to about 3/16 of an inch with holes through it. Looks like when they replaced the frame they just put the rusty hitch back on. Is it possible to buy new parts for the OEM hitch or should I just have a local shop fab me / buy a new hitch.

    Looks like SKU PT228-04030 Replaces PT214-04010, PT214-04984, PT214-04985, PT228-04020

Not sure which one of those parts was OEM and if they even sold the sub assembly parts.

Do you do lots of towing ??

I would buy a new hitch and new hardware.Much cheaper then custom building one unless you need something custom built like for a pulling truck or the back of your frame no longer has any bolt holes

    Pictures are always good

I can`t recall if the first generation had a so called dealer installed towing package.

I don't expect I'll tow much more then the occasional piece of rental equipment but I'd still like a hitch. The rest of the hitch is fine. Sucks to replace it when just this metal plate is bad.

Running your VIN pulls up the hitch part numbers then go for it .

The easy way might be to call the dealer that installed it. See if the Company is still in business.

If the part can be bought yet.

My Parts Manger said they used whatever hitch could be bought local that day .

Independent Dealers could decide what to do and parts for the dealer installed option.

The other option is to have that part made unless you have a friend that can fabricate that can do it right away.

In my area every shop is going full speed ahead a job like that might take a few weeks and cost what a new hitch would
