 Add me too to the list. I got so busy I forgot the wonderful world of Tacoma World would have solved this for me. I am 3 months waiting for this radio replacement. I bought my truck for cash and I guess Toyota figures I should just go buy another or an after market replacement. 8oookm and a radio issue almost from the start. Air conditioner not so cooool either. A very strange noise on cold start ups and have no idea what that is. I also own a Corolla, my daughter has 2 Toyotas, My son has a Toyota. I suggested to head office that our family sell all Toyota products in our possession. Yesterday finally went to dealership with ultimatum and Canada head office for Toyota. I received a call 20 minutes ago (next day)....that a radio should be available in perhaps 2 days for installation. Squeaky wheel gets the oil? I don't know but I wish now I had taken the time to access Tacoma World long before this. I have been a member since having bought the 2009 Tacoma last October. Tacoma World helped me immensley with my towing installations etc....So I appoligise to a great forum of which I am a member for not having presented my problem here. I won't make that mistake again.

Bryan.....Wow!!! It seems like you got some real help. We also enlisted the help of "Toyota" in this...we went way beyond the dealership to get some answers. I felt like you too; we had paid cash for this truck and for a new Prius package #3 on the same day.... were we being swept under the rug? Well, November 2 will tell the tale. The dude at Toyota corporate said the radio replacement should be in by then. If not, I am afraid my hubbie will reach through the phone and rip this guy's lungs out. He has been patient way beyond his tolerance level!!!....

    Hi...nascrlvr
Can you imagine the biggest auto maker in the world, and I just received one of their magazines in the mail that over emphasizes the "we care" routine and then a supplier I am lead to beleive created a hugh technical problem for Toyota with the radio issue. Toyota and of course through their dealers could have informed us that this was a big issue. If my dealer had informed me of what I found out here today at the forum...about the problem, it would have been a little easier to accept the wait. What my wife and I felt was that we were being ignored and maybe the dealer hoped that we would go away. One serice fellow at the dealership had enough nerve to suggest I screwed something up with my trailer wiring of lights, and brake contoller without any verification of any thing.
I am a bit of a perfectionist because of my work career and I also had great support from TacomaWorld on my wiring. I only do when I am well informed. So I am a little relieved but not happy with the service from Toyota and dealer on this issue. Lets hope we all get satisfaction sooner than later. [IMG]

I had my 09 for about 3 weeks and one time the volume control would not work. I called my service manager gave him the radio number stamped on the faceplate and bang. A done deal.
Radio was in and installed in less than a week. However....i asked the parts man if this was a new or recon unit. The big dealer man came out and said it was a recon. That is what toyota sends back. They send these junk units back to delphi [delco gm] redo them and send them back out. I went ballistic. A 32k truck with 300 miles and he wants to put a used unit in. I was waiting for the owner to come in and i did not care if i was there all day. The big service manager explained that the unit was a panasonic not a delphi and he was positive it was a new unit. He showed me the seal. I said ok and i confirmed that with the assistant parts manger, who has become a good dealer friend, that this was the truth.
So what i am saying is toyota is recycling these junk radios to people who think they are being treated fairly.
Incidentally, my 09 d/cab, long bed, sport tsd now has 630 miles on it and it is in hibernation until the spring. It is going to snow soon and i do not want to have it get snowed on.....

We bought a new Honda Civic back in '01. It turns out that all early '01's had bad radios...made by Alpine. There was such a back-log that we had to wait for 8.5 months for a "new" radio!!! All of the "new" radios were actually recons. No big deal really. It worked fine. But man, did it suck to have a new car without a functioning radio for that long.

    YEH:):):)
here we are today not 24 hours later and yes My radio was installed at 2pm. The Parts fellow at our dealer was incredable. He explained the problem clearly with supply issues for the radio. I was slated for January comming and I was a few thousands away from the top of the list. Done ....done ....done. But like some else here maybe I will need another replacement:( who knows....but for now I am happy:D....so good luck to you who are still waiting and I will keep you informed of the durability of the replacement.

Congrats. I hope your replacement lasts longer than your original. Mine did... by a few weeks - and now it's flakey too. What a POS.

Radio in 09 was turning off and on by itself, so last week took to dealership to get replacement. Got a call the next day after talking to them and replacement radio was in.

Is there some identification mark by which you could tell if you are getting a new radio or a remanufactured unit? Someone above mentioned a sticker, but how do you see this without removing the dash parts? Thanks!

I too had a bad radio... Bought the truck in Feb. 2009, and the radio was good until mid-May, just when the south Jersey weather began to heat up. It did all the weird things everyone here has read about. I was promised a replacement in early August, but despite my phone calls, none were available until October. It was just replaced with a recon on Fri. Oct. 23 at the Dealer. I'm not real happy with Toyota for putting in someone else's repaired radio, but it does seem to be working OK and seems to sound better than before as well. Of course, the hazard light button was all scratched -- being it was in another truck for who knows how long -- and I complained about that and am told a new hazard button will be installed next week. I agree with the others here that Toyota is giving us a bum deal... I'd use stronger words than that, but this is a public forum. Is there a way to file a class action suit for brand new radios for each of us? I might be starting to miss Ford after all. We'll see....

I had a "catastrophic" power failure in three of my radios. All replaced under warranty. I had an '06 Tacoma with the non-JBL 6 disc changer.

I was called by the dealership to say that the replacement radio that was ordered August 7 is now in......it's a miracle!! It will be installed tomorrow. I have been assured that this is not a reconditioned radio; we will see. I will post results tomorrow.....

I finally got a replacement radio about a week and a half ago. No problems on a 1,000 mile road trip I took last week. My memory might be wrong with this, but on the blank panel in the middle of the radio where the MP3 symbol is stamped, the new one also has Toyota stamped on there, and I don't recall the old one having that.
